BOSTON, MA, December 16, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Heather Mason-Suares has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Backed by many years of practiced experience in clinical, research and educational settings, Dr. Mason-Suares currently excels as an assistant professor of pathology for Brigham and Women's Hospital and as an assistant professor at Harvard Medical School. A cytogeneticist and molecular geneticist, she also works at the CLIA-certified Laboratory of Molecular Medicine focusing on prenatal diagnostics, as well as a group of disorders called Rasopathies, which are typically detected postnatal, but can occasionally be detected prenatally. Earlier in her career, Dr. Mason-Suares gained valuable expertise in an American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics accredited clinical genetic fellowship at Emory University.

Originally, Dr. Mason-Suares intended on pursuing a career in neuroscience for personal reasons. However, after interning in the molecular diagnostic laboratory at AllChildren's Hospital in Saint Petersburg, Florida, she fell in love with the field and has flourished ever since. Moreover, Dr. Mason-Suares retains her professional alignment with the American College of Medical Genetics, the Association for Molecular Pathologists and the Association of Professors of Human and Medical Genetics in order to remain aware of changes in the field.

In the early 2000s, Dr. Mason-Suares earned a Bachelor of Science in biology at Eckerd College. Subsequently, she graduated with a Doctor of Philosophy in genetics from Case Western Reserve University in 2010. Along with other scholars in the field, Dr. Mason-Suares has contributed her wealth of knowledge to a plethora of articles, including "NGS testing for cardiomyopathy: Utility of adding RASopathy-associated genes," "When Ultrasound Anomalies Are Present: An Estimation of the Frequency of Chromosome Abnormalities Not Detected by Cell Free DNA Aneuploidy Screens" and "Elucidation of MRAS-mediated Noonan syndrome with cardiac hypertrophy."

An expert in her field, Dr. Mason-Suares accepted the Eleanor and Miles Shore 50th Anniversary fellowship in 2016. Looking toward the future, she intends to expand some of the laboratory's offerings. Furthermore, Dr. Mason-Suares hopes to incorporate new tests that give people more answers than is currently possible.
