CHILLICOTHE, OH, December 24, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Alan Gough with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Gough celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Gough is a painter with more than 70 years of distinction in the visual arts. He came from an artistically-inclined family: his grandfather, a sea captain, often created small portraits of each ship he commanded, and his father was a pen and ink painter who primarily created seascapes. He recalls his mother and sister going to art museums to create practice copies of works on display, and as a child, he received an early lesson in 2-point perspective drawing that stoked his creativity. Mr. Gough attended the American Academy of Art, Chicago, from 1949 to 1953.

From 1953 until 1955, Mr. Gough served in the U.S. Army. Upon returning to civilian life, he began a career as a commercial artist, quickly growing bored by the lack of creativity required to meet client demands. Mr. Gough pursued studio art full-time, specializing in landscape paintings with deep emotional and personal geography. His work has been shown in numerous group and solo gallery shows since the early 1960s.

Mr. Gough's work has been honored with the 1962 Henry Ward Ranger Purchase Prize, the 1962 Friends of American Art Purchase Prize, and first prize at the 1963 Illinois Seven States Exhibition, among other accolades. He is a former trustee of the Ohioana Library, Columbus, Ohio, and the Ross County Historical Society of Chillicothe, Ohio, and received the 1981 Ohioana Citation from the Ohioana Library Association for his contributions. In his leisure time, Mr. Gough is a patron of the performing arts, and frequently attends plays and operas.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Alan Gough has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
