Mrs. Chapin has been endorsed by Marquis Who's Who as a leader in the field of library science

Mrs. Nancy Gilbert Chapin was a librarian at the Pentagon Library, Washington, D.C., between 1974 and 1980, where she recalls her work cataloging classified material as a career highlight.

WILLIAMSBURG, VA, January 09, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Nancy Gilbert Chapin with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mrs. Chapin celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mrs. Chapin is a retired librarian with more than 30 years of experience in her field. She attended Greensboro College, earning a Bachelor of Arts in 1961, and worked as a nonprofessional assistant in a library. Recognizing the passion she felt for the work, Mrs. Chapin returned to the University of North Carolina, where she completed a Master of Library Science in 1968.

Before beginning her career as a military librarian, Mrs. Chapin briefly worked for the Virginia Beach Public Library. From 1968 until 1974, she excelled as a librarian for the United States Army, stationed on bases in Worms, Mannheim, and Crailsheim, Germany. Mrs. Chapin was a librarian at the Pentagon Library, Washington, D.C., between 1974 and 1980, where she recalls her work cataloging classified material as a career highlight.

Mrs. Chapin joined the U.S. Army Military History Institute at Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania, in 1980, where she remained until her retirement in 2000. She considers her work at Carlisle Barracks to be the greatest challenge of her career, as the library was backlogged when she arrived, and she helped build it into a functioning institution over the course of her career. In her retirement, Mrs. Chapin enjoys reading, travel, and photography.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to her profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Nancy Chapin has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
