He has also been a speaker on legislative issues for such organizations as Blank Rome LLP and the Boynton Beach Chamber of Commerce.
Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Fishman pursued an education at SUNY Oneonta, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in 1983. He is licensed as a CPA in both New York and Florida, and is also credentialed as a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), as well as a Forensic CPA (FCPA).
He was co-chair for the National Tax Professionals Symposium in Florida from 2011-2013, and has been a speaker at the Long Island Tax Symposium and for Alpha Kappa Psi and other local groups in Florida over the years, speaking on both tax and fraud issues.
Currently he is in his second year as President of the National Conference of CPA Practitioners (NCCPAP). Prior to his becoming President of NCCPAP in 2018, he held various positions on the National Board, including Chairman of the Tax Policy Committee from 2008-2011. In addition, he was the first President of the South Florida Chapter of NCCPAP. Also, he is a member of the Florida Institute of CPAs (FICPA), the New York State Society of CPAs (NYSSCPA), the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), the Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists (ACAMS), and the Forensic CPA Society.
Moreover, he provided his wealth of knowledge as a panelist for taxtalktoday.tv, an internet webcast hosted by the Internal Revenue Service. Profiled by the Florida Sun-Sentinel and named one of the 100 Most Influential People in the Profession by Accounting Today, Mr. Fishman found success with his written works as well, authoring a number of articles for such publications as the CPA Journal, California CPA, and Florida CPA Today.
Attributing his success to his hard work, effort and willingness to get things done, Mr. Fishman has notably assisted in the drafting of tax legislation introduced in the United States House of Representatives and testimonies presented before the U.S. Congress, the discussion of tax issues with multiple committees for the United States Senate, and presentations in conferences for the Internal Revenue Service.
