Dr. Lewis has been endorsed by Marquis Who's Who as a leader in the field of education

Becoming an English teacher and being actively involved in the lives of students was a great honor and Dr. Patsy D. Lewis hopes that she was able to inspire some of them along the way.

GAINSVILLE, GA, January 13, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Patsy D. Lewis, Ph.D., with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Lewis celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Teaching English at White County High School in Cleveland, Georgia, since 2018, Dr. Lewis is now in her 31st year in education. Beginning her career in 1988 at the very same high school she is now teaching at, she taught English for close to 20 years, until 2006. She then went on to become a graduation coach for the high school between 2006 and 2008 and an English teacher at the White County Ninth Grade Academy between 2009 and 2010 and again between 2012 and 2017. Dr. Lewis also spent two years as the assistant principal at White County Middle School from 2010 to 2012 before returning to White County High School. During her tenure in Cleveland, she was also an adjunct professor at the University of North Georgia and Truett McConnell University.

Dr. Lewis spent several summers as a counselor of the Summer Youth Employment Program in Gainesville between 1986 and 1988, was the varsity cheerleading coach for White County High School in Cleveland between 1989 and 1992 and served on both the student assistance program and student support team between 1988 and 1992. She is a longstanding member of the Georgia High School Association, the Georgia Coaches Association, the Professional Association of Georgia Educators, the Georgia Association of Educators and the National Cheerleading Coaches Association.

Born and raised in Gainesville, Dr. Lewis remembers her sister getting extra help from her teacher, Ms. Sherry Garrison, in high school after falling behind in reading. Greatly inspired Ms. Garrison, who was able to not only get her sister up to speed but to excel in the subject, Dr. Lewis knew right then that she would someday teach as well. Becoming an English teacher and being actively involved in the lives of students was a great honor and she hopes that she was able to inspire some of them along the way in more ways than just teaching the subject. Dr. Lewis remains in touch with some of her former students via social media.

Dr. Lewis received several Teacher of the Year Awards and has been included in the fourth edition of Who's Who in American Education. Pursuing an education at the University of North Georgia, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1988 and an education specialist degree in 2001 before going on to obtain a Doctor of Philosophy from Georgia State University in 2013. She was a nationally board-certified teacher of English between 2002 and 2013. A true honor, Dr. Lewis has been the only teacher to receive the certification in the English discipline within her county to date.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to her profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Dr. Lewis has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
