Subsequently, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of California in 1993. He later graduated with a Master of Science in Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin in 1995. His career started in 1995, with Degenkolb Engineers and includes founding Certus Consulting, Inc. in 2002 serving as CFO and President until its sale to Simpson Gumpertz & Heger, Inc. in 2012. He is a registered Professional Engineer in five states, a registered Civil Engineer in four states and a registered Structural Engineer in seven states.
Mr. Moore has lectured numerous times and contributed to several publications including "Using Computer Automation to Simplify Seismic Evaluation of Existing Buildings," "Testing Tension-Only Steel Anchor Rods Embedded in Reinforced Concrete Slabs," "Lessons Learned from Recent Failures of Structural Timber Appurtenant Assemblies," "Resiliency of Tainan Following the Meinong Earthquake" and "Nonlinear Dynamic Evaluation of a Hospital Stair Tower with SSI and Pounding Effects" and many others.
Mr. Moore's dedication to his profession earned him various awards from the Structural Engineers Association of California, including an Award in Engineering Excellence in 2005 and 2011, the Edwin Zacher Award in 2011, the S.B. Barnes Research Award in 2016 and being recognized as Fellow in 2019. He credits his professional prominence to his desire to make a difference in the structural engineering profession and by extension the built environment.
For twenty-five years, Mr. Moore has devoted his passion towards advancing his career as he believes that his duty is to provide value to those who need it. He is nationally recognized as an expert in earthquake engineering, structural steel design and construction, non-linear analysis and anchorage to concrete. He has participated in various professional activities, including serving as the chair of the Structural Standards Committee of the Structural Engineers Association of California, Seismic Subcommittee for the National Council of Structural Engineers Association, active member of the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC), and vice chair of the AISC Connection Prequalification Review Panel, among others. Today, he holds the position of Senior Principal and Head of the San Francisco Structural Engineering Division of Simpson Gumpertz & Heger, Inc., in San Francisco, CA.
