KNOXVILLE, TN, January 17, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Lennis L. Lammers with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Lammers celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

With more than 55 years of experience to his credit, Mr. Lammers is currently retired, having excelled as the president of Advisory First from 2004 to 2016, during which time he notably developed the reliability engineering process alongside his son. Prior to this appointment, he held the position of a senior maintenance consultant for Computational Systems Inc. between 1996 and 2004. Previously, he served as the president of Plant Reliability Engineering Associates in Toms River, New Jersey, from 1994 until 1996. Additionally, Mr. Lammers worked as the director of plant material and maintenance for the Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station for GPU Nuclear, Inc., in Forked River, New Jersey, between 1987 and 1994.

Mr. Lammers began his career in 1960, enlisting in the U.S. Navy as a commissioned ensign. Completing a number of submarine assignments from 1960 until 1968, he was active at the Mare Island Naval Shipyard as a ship superintendent and a docking officer from 1971 to 1976, on the U.S.S. L.Y. Spear (AS-36) as a repair officer between 1976 and 1978 and at the Charleston Naval Shipyard as a plan and estimate superintendent from 1978 to 1981. Attaining the rank of a captain in 1981, he further flourished as a trident integrated logistics systems officer for the Naval Sea Systems Command from 1981 until 1982 and a planning officer for the Mare Island Naval Shipyard between 1983 and 1984. In 1987, Mr. Lammers retired from military service, at which point he had held the post of a commanding officer at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard since 1984.

Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Lammers pursued an education at the U.S. Naval Academy, earning a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering in 1960. He continued his academic efforts at the Naval Postgraduate School, graduating with a Master of Science in ocean engineering in 1971. Following these accomplishments, Mr. Lammers concluded his studies with postgraduate coursework in management consulting at Duke University in 1982.

Beyond his responsibilities within the field, Mr. Lammers has participated in numerous endeavors outside of his professional circles. A noted lecturer, he contributed to the Greater Portsmouth chapter of the YMCA Building Fund as a chairman from 1985 to 1987. Furthermore, he held the role of a senior manager of training courses with the Naval Sea Systems Command between 1984 and 1987 and the Engineering Duty Officer School from 1983 until 1987. Briefly active as a broker for A.G. Edwards, Mr. Lammers has found additional success as a bugler for the U.S. Naval Academy Drum and Bugle Corps, a host and sponsor for the Navy League of the United States and an honorary member of the Police Society at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.

Moreover, Mr. Lammers remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to his areas of expertise. The founder of the Shipyard Employees' Association of the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in 1986, he has maintained his involvement with the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard Museum Historical Foundation as a founding and lifetime member since 1985. He was also associated with the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society as the president from 1984 to 1987 and the Boy Scouts of America as a scoutmaster from 1980 until 1981. Likewise, Mr. Lammers was a member of the Society of Industrial Engineering, the American Society of Naval Engineers, the Naval Submarine League, the U.S. Naval Institute, the U.S. Naval Academy Alumni Association and Rotary International.

Inspired by his father, George Lammers, who successfully operated the biggest store in Big Horn County for generations, Mr. Lammers was motivated to enlist within the U.S. Navy by his brother, Gayle Lammers, who inspired his sibling with his impeccable service as a signalman during the Second World War. Remarkably completing exams at West Point, Annapolis and the Air Force Academy, he is incredibly proud of his selection as the commander of the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, having been recognized as the youngest commander to hold the title at the time.

Remaining humble due to his tireless work ethic and his piano performances, which he honed by ear during his military service, his legacy is punctuated by his efforts as a family man, having been a loving husband to his wife, Bea, since 1961, with whom he raised two wonderful children, Laura Bea and the late Lennis Steven. Mr. Lammers has also happily welcomed one grandchild, Julia Beatrice, into his family.
