Carl Hostler Celebrated for Dedication to the Field of Law

Drawing upon years of expertise in the legal field, Mr. Hostler serves as an associate with Prim Law Firm, where he has specialized in federal and state criminal defense, drug crimes, abuse and neglect, domestic violence and social security matters since 2007. Prior to his tenure at Prim Law, he was self-employed in the field and focused on criminal and juvenile cases in state courts in Wilmington, N.C. Earlier in his career, Mr. Hostler gained valuable expertise as a managing partner of Hostler and Donnelly, PLLC from 1992 to 1998, an attorney for Hostler and Segal, LC from 1989 to 1991 and a paralegal on both a part-time and full-time basis for Hostler and Segal between 1985 and 1989.

Over the course of his storied career, Mr. Hostler has litigated and tried cases before various courts, including the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of West Virginia, the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of the United States, to name a few. In order to remain aware of changes in the field, he is affiliated with the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the West Virginia Association for Justice. During his spare time, Mr. Hostler contributes to the less fortunate through Big Brothers Big Sisters, Habitat for Humanity and as a guardian ad litem in Brunswick County, N.C.

An expert in his field, Mr. Hostler earned a Bachelor of Arts in history from the University of Maryland, College Park, in 1984. Subsequently, he obtained a Doctor of Jurisprudence from West Virginia University College of Law in 1989. Upon his graduation, Mr. Hostler was admitted to practice through the North Carolina State Bar, the West Virginia State Bar the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia, and the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.

Throughout his career, Mr. Hostler has been recognized for leadership in West Virginia and with a Certificate of Appreciation through Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. Looking toward the future, he aims to continue on the same path. Likewise, Mr. Hostler intends to remain open to new opportunities in the legal field, while also spending more time with his grandchildren.
