Robert Thomas Lawlor Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Mr. Lawlor has been endorsed by Marquis Who's Who as a leader in the art industry

COLLEGEVILLE, PA, January 23, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Prior to beginning his career in art, Mr. Lawlor signed a minor league contract out of high school with the Philadelphia Athletics. For the next three years, he developed his baseball skills and observed another American living and playing in leagues and towns in the segregated south. Helpful later in his editorial cartoon career, other contracts with the Kansas City A's, Brooklyn Dodgers, and St. Louis Cardinals followed. Too many "sliders" later, he returned home to play in a "more friendlier" semi-pro ball in Philadelphia.

In 1973, Mr. Lawlor was named editorial cartoonist with the Philadelphia Daily News for the next 12 years. His work also appeared in Newsweek, and U.S. News and World Report, as well as numerous book publications. He illustrated two books: "Concentrated Baseball" and "Lady Godiva and Other Verses," and finished his career as a sports cartoonist before retiring in 1990. As a testament to his achievements, he was named to the Hall of Achievement at Abraham Lincoln High School in Philadelphia, PA, in 1977.

Mr. Lawlor has also traveled and worked on stage as a leading man in professional and dinner theatre in the Philadelphia and Delaware Valley area for 35 years from 1970 through 2005. A lover of the fine arts from an early age, he studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, where he was able to perfect his craft and become knowledgeable in the field. An award-winning oil painter, his attempts to capture the landscapes of Ireland, Provence, and his own Delaware Valley in the colors and brightness of the impressionist palette have brought the splendor of these locations to life on the canvas. His artwork and performance skills earned him a guest spot on the Mike Douglas show singing to Kate Smith on live TV, which was quite a thrill. Mr. Lawlor acknowledges his God-given gifts, and so he continues his quest in painting Biblical themes and stories into the 21st century.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Mr. Robert Thomas Lawlor has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
