    FRANKLIN, TN, January 23, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Michael A. Plumley with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Plumley celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. Having accrued more than 47 years of success as a manufacturing company executive, Mr. Plumley has worked as an independent consultant within general industry since 2000. Influenced by the example of his father, who originally owned and managed the Plumley Companies, he began his career as a quality control lab technician after returning from the military in 1972. Throughout his career, he rose through the ranks eventually becoming General Manager and President, served on the Board of Directors and as the Chairman and Chief Executive officer of the Plumley Companies. Mr. Plumley subsequently held several high-level positions for Dana Corporation before serving as a Board Member and the Chairman of the Plumley Properties of Tennessee between 2001 and 2019.

During his illustrious career, Mr. Plumley was active on numerous boards of directors and advisory boards for various companies and trade associations. To wit, he served as a Board member to Mohawk Plastics, Liberty Mutual Insurance Company of Tennessee, Motor and Equipment Manufacturers Association, Tennessee Automotive Manufacturers Association, Tennessee Quality Award and Warner Electric of Europe. Mr. Plumley was also a guest author in Chief Executive Magazine, and has appeared as a subject in several business books, including "Strategic Management" by Stahl and Grigsby" in 1997 and has consulted for various industries regarding Japanese business practices.

Presented with numerous opportunities over the years, Mr. Plumley was most notably a panel member for a discussion on corporate citizenship chaired by President Bill Clinton at Georgetown University. He also delivered a commencement address at the University of Tennessee at Martin. Mr. Plumley was invited to present a series of lectures by various companies and trade industry associations for nearly a decade between 1987 and 1996.

A passionate advocate for his community, Mr. Plumley was a member of the Board of Trustees, the Secretary to the board and the Treasurer for the Historic Carter House, Community of Franklin, in Tennessee. He also served on the Board of The Battle of Franklin Trust and was the Treasurer. Among other organizations, he was aligned with the Tennessee Valley Veterans Administration of Voluntary Services, the Junior Achievement of Paris, Tennessee, and the Paris Little League. Additionally, Mr. Plumley was very involved in academia as an Advisory Counsel to the Dean of the School of Business, a member of the Development Council at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and as an Advisory Board member of the School of Business and former Chairman of the Development Council at the University of Tennessee at Martin.

Mr. Plumley was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1970, assigned to the Fourth Infantry Division as a combat medic on active duty until late 1971. Following this, he served in the active reserves between 1972 and 1973, and the inactive reserves from 1974 to 1976. He received an honorable discharge in 1976. During his service, Mr. Plumley was assigned to various field medical units, medevac operations, post dispensary clinician duties, and managed care in a surgical ward of an Army hospital.

Mr. Plumley graduated from Cowan High School in Cowan, Indiana, in 1969. Shortly thereafter, he studied business administration, took various courses at the University of Akron and the University of Tennessee at Martin, graduated from the Wabash College, Wabash Institute for Personal Development, the Advanced Executive Program at Vanderbilt University's Owen School and the Advanced Management program at Harvard Business School. Mr. Plumley is certified in CPR and as a first aid instructor through the American Red Cross. He trained over 1,000 High school students in life saving skills in 2008-2009.

Mr. Plumley is also affiliated with numerous history and patriotic war related organizations. He is a "life member" of the Sons of Confederate Veterans and the Vietnam Veterans of America, is a member of the Old Hickory chapter of the Society of the War of 1812 where he serves as the State Genealogist and is the Tennessee State Secretary of the Society of Colonial Wars. Furthermore, Mr. Plumley is a member and the former Chairman of the Veterans' Service Committee of the General Society of the Sons of the American Revolution.

Recognized with many accolades, Mr. Plumley is most proud to have been recognized as the Rubber and Plastics News Executive of the Year in 1991, as well as the Legacy Award he received from the Battle of Franklin Trust in 2018. He has been bestowed with numerous other awards for his historical patriotic organization service as well, including a Service to Veterans Medal with Two Oak Leaf Clusters in 2012, Bronze Service Medal in 2014, and a Meritorious Service Medal from the Sons of the American Revolution in 2016. Moreover, he was honored with a personalized certificate in December 1971 from President Nixon for his military service. A celebrated Marquis listee, Mr. Plumley has been included in Who's Who In Finance and Industry and Who's Who in the South and Southwest.
