Mr. Li is the president and the chief executive officer of C.A.R.I.T.A.S. Care, Nightingale Home Care, Together Hospice Care, and Provident Home Healthcare. However, Mr. Li had very humble beginnings. Shortly after emigrating to the United States with his wife and toddler, Mr. Li worked multiple, labor-intensive jobs while studying for his Registered Nurse (R.N.) license. As an R.N., he quickly rose to management, serving as a home health supervisor providing his expertise to medical institutions such as Long Beach Memorial Hospital and UCLA Medical Center. Mr. Li went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management in 2000.
In 2003, backed by a dream of having a home health care company run by nurses rather than businessman, Mr. Li established Nightingale Home Care (Nightingale). Since then, the 500-square-foot office with less than ten employees has grown to a staff of more than fifty professionals occupying an 1,800-square-foot area in La Mesa, CA. In 2008 and 2009, Nightingale was recognized as a "Top 500" home health agency in the United States. Under Mr. Li's leadership and management, the San Diego Business Journal named Nightingale a "Top 100 Places to Work" in 2013. Nightingale remains a highly rated home health company in San Diego.
In 2014, after recognizing that many patients did not have access to after-care needs, such as stable housing, nutritious meals, therapy, or assistive devices, Mr. Li was inspired to establish C.A.R.I.T.A.S. Care, a nonprofit organization to assist recovering, low-income men and women to lead more independent lives. To date, C.A.R.I.T.A.S. Care has delivered free food to over 100 homes in San Diego and assisted more than 300 San Diegans.
Mr. Li has since continued to expand his medical services by providing comfort and dignity to terminally ill patients at Together Hospice Care, and by providing follow-up home health medical care at Provident Home Healthcare. Looking towards the future, Mr. Li hopes to continue expanding his exemplary work on a larger scale and making a positive impact on others in the San Diego community.
