Mrs. Cantwell has two years of professional experience teaching all general subjects to second grade students. In 2008, she received her Master of Science in Education in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment from Walden University. She graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, MacLeish Scholar, from Rockford College. She has received middle school endorsements in language arts, social science, and computer science. Mrs. Cantwell is pursuing a second Master of Science in Education in Curriculum and Instruction, with a concentration in reading, from Grand Canyon University. Her expected date of graduation is 2009.

A recipient of the Co-Curricular Scholarship and the Shirley Jones-Bailey Scholarship, Mrs. Cantwell is also on the distinguished scholar's list and dean's list. She is affiliated with several organizations including the National Education Association, Illinois Education Association, Phi Delta Kappa and Who's Who Among America's Teachers.
