Ms. Marcia Jaffe is most proud of her involvement with SGORR and the number of students whom she was able to effect through her involvement.

    BEACHWOOD, OH, January 24, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Marcia Jaffe with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Jaffe celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. Ms. Jaffe began her career in education by completing a Bachelor of Arts from Brooklyn College in 1956. She attended John Carroll University, graduating with a Master of Arts in 1977. Ms. Jaffe is a licensed teacher in New York and Ohio. She credits her father, Adolph Weissman, with instilling in her a sense of the importance of social justice in education.

Upon graduation, Ms. Jaffe became a teacher for the East Meadow School District in Westbury, New York, where she taught at the elementary school level. In 1977, she began teaching in the Shaker Heights School District, teaching elementary and high school grades. In 1983, a group of high school students, multi-racial, worked with Ms. Jaffe and Zachary Green, teachers in the school district to form a group to help continue multi-racial friendships when they reach school age. They encouraged students to create a platform to continue dialogues with administrators and other students, and the Students Group on Race Relations (SGORR) was created. From 1983 to 2013, Ms. Jaffe was a sixth grade teacher, advisor, and the coordinator of SGORR for the Shaker Heights Board of Education in Ohio. Ms. Jaffe developed a curriculum that has been the basis of the SGORR program which included approximately 300 students each year. The leaders have continued this work building diversity in the community.

Ms. Jaffe is most proud of her involvement with SGORR and the number of students whom she was able to effect through her involvement. She is the recipient of a Governor's Award from the National School Board Association and the Martin Luther King Award from the City of Shaker Heights, Ohio, for her work facilitating student discussions on race
