RIDGEWOOD, NJ, January 28, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Ernest Lamour has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
A devoted community advocate, Mr. Lamour has served as the chief executive officer of the Ridgewood YMCA since 2016. Previously, he provided his expertise to the Stamford YMCA as the chief executive officer and a senior program director between 2008 and 2016. Over the years, Mr. Lamour gained valuable leadership experience through the Stamford Jewish Community Center, where he worked as the director of summer camp, the director of youth programs and the director of sports and recreation.
Additionally, Mr. Lamour dedicated himself to the Jewish High School of Connecticut in an executive position. As a young man, his father was very strict, only permitting him to attend school and church as well as participate in programming at the Stamford Family YMCA. Mr. Lamour's passion in sports and helping his community stemmed from this upbringing.
Before beginning his career in the field, Mr. Lamour earned a Bachelor of Science in community recreation and leisure studies in 2003. Subsequently, he graduated from West Virginia University with a Master of Science in sport management in 2009. During his spare time, Mr. Lamour remains dedicated to his community through the board of the Ridgewood Chamber of Commerce, the Ridgewood Rotary Club, Wells Mountain Initiative, YMCA of USA's Haiti Coalition and as National Co-Chair of YMCA of the YUSA's African American Resource Network Employee Resource Group.
For his professional accomplishments, Mr. Lamour has been honored on many occasions, notably earning a scholarship from Person-to-Person International. He later obtained the Martin Luther King Jr. Award, the Mary McLeod Bethune Education Award from the Stamford NAACP in 2016 and the Community Impact Award from the Stamford Peace Youth Foundation in 2018. Looking toward the future, Mr. Lamour intends to continue mentoring others and maintaining leadership positions within the YMCA movement.
