Richard Aynes Celebrated for Dedication to the Field of Legal Education

Richard Aynes has leveraged his considerable knowledge to publish more than 70 legal works, including four book chapters



    AKRON, OH, January 31, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Richard Aynes has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Richard Aynes, after serving on the faculty of the University of Akron School of Law for 36 years, including twelve years as Dean, in 2012 was awarded the titles Dean Emeritus and Professor Emeritus. He previously served as the director of the Constitutional Law Center and the John F. Siberling chair of constitutional law. He began his professional journey with the university in the mid-1970s, working as a lecturer in law and a coordinator of clinical education from 1976 until 1979, advancing from the post of an assistant professor to an associate professor between 1979 and 1986. He also held the post of an associate dean from 1984 to 1993 and was further appointed as interim athletic director for most of the 1993-1994 academic year. Prior to joining the University of Akron, Mr. Aynes was a legal intern and then an attorney with Cleveland Legal Aid before he clerked for the late Judge Leo A. Jackson of the Eighth District Ohio Court of Appeals.

Mr. Aynes earned a Bachelor of Science from Miami University in Ohio in 1971 and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Cleveland State University in 1974. Upon graduating from law school, he was admitted to practice law by the Supreme Court of Ohio and the Supreme Court of the United States. A member of the American Bar Association, he previously served as one of two consultants on victim's rights working for the ABA, and as one of two co-reporters for an ABA Commission which presented Standards for the Evaluation of Judicial Performance, which were ultimately adopted by the ABA's House of Delegates. Mr. Aynes gave back to his community through his association with Western Reserve Legal Services and as a pro bono attorney for individuals who were serving in the armed forces or were veterans. Throughout his career, he has leveraged his considerable knowledge to publish more than 70 legal works, including four book chapters.

Mr. Aynes has been recognized for his efforts and expertise in law. He received the Black Law Student Association Award for Outstanding Law Professor in 1984, and the graduating a class of 1985 also awarded him Outstanding Law Professor Award when they graduated in the Spring of 1985. He also received the University of Akron's Outstanding Administrator Award in 1993, and the Harold K. Stubbs Humanitarian Award for Distinguished Service in the field of law in 2001. In addition, he was presented with the Akron Bar Association's Liberty Bell Award for defending the Constitution in 2007. In addition he was a David L. Brennan Research fellowship recipient in 1989, Mr. Aynes has been featured in publications such as Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in American Law and Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America.
