BROOKLYN, NY, January 31, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Dr. Sahni with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Sahni celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

With more than 40 years of teaching and research experience, Dr. Sahni is widely regarded as an expert in the field of physics. He had always wanted to study physics but, at his father's encouragement, he initially earned a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in 1965. Dr. Sahni immigrated to the United States the same year that he had graduated from the institute and enrolled at the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn, where he obtained a Master of Science in electrical engineering in 1968.

Dr. Sahni later began his career as an instructor of electrical engineering at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York, from 1968 to 1970. Soon thereafter, he concluded his academic efforts at the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn, graduating with a Doctor of Philosophy in physics in 1972. Having achieved his dream of studying physics, he worked at Brooklyn College, a part of the City University of New York system, as an instructor of physics from 1972 to 1974. At the aforementioned university, he has excelled as an assistant professor from 1974 to 1978, an associate professor from 1978 to 1981 and a professor since 1981. Likewise, Dr. Sahni accepted the title of Broeklundian Professor of Physics at Brooklyn College from 2001 to 2011. He was invited to the Institute for Theoretical Physics (now the Kavli Institute) from January to August 1983.

Dr. Sahni is proud of his contributions to the field of physics. Since publishing his first paper in 1968, he has continued to research and explore the field of physics by writing research monographs, contributing chapters to books and articles to professional journals. Dr. Sahni's books include "Quantal Density Functional Theory" in 2004, "Quantal Density Functional Theory II: Approximation Methods and Applications" in 2010, and a second edition of "Quantal Density Functional Theory" in 2016.

Due to his dedication to physics, Dr. Sahni received the National Science Foundation grant and grants from the Research Foundation of the City University of New York as well as a grant from the American Chemical Society. He is exceptionally grateful to his PhD advisor and mentor, J.B. Krieger, as well as the students he has taught throughout the course of his career. As a further testament to his success, Dr. Sahni holds membership with both the American Physical Society and Sigma Xi, the Scientific Research Honor Society.
