Dr. Afshar-Mohajer is a periodontist and clinical professor with more than 40 years of excellence in his field. Inspired by his grandfather, he knew at a young age that he would pursue a career in dentistry. He earned a Doctoral of Dental Medicine at Tehran University in 1971, concluding his academic efforts in 1976. Dr. Afshar-Mohajer completed a post-doctoral training in periodontics and a Master of Science in Dentistry.

Since 1976, Dr. Afshar-Mohajer has worked in private practice as a periodontist. He is also a clinical professor at the New York University College of Dentistry, who awarded him with a 2017 Alumni Faculty award, and a 2019 honor for excellence in teaching implant dentistry. Dr. Afshar-Mohajer attributes his professional longevity to a desire to be the best he can be at a profession he adores and respects.

Dr. Afshar-Mohajer aspires to begin scaling back his private practice in the next five years to focus on providing charity and humanitarian dental services. Well-versed in the intricacies of his field, he is a member of several organizations pertinent to his interests. To wit, Dr. Afshar-Mohajer has affiliated with the American Academy of Periodontology, the American Dental Association, and the International College of Oral Implantologists.
