Mrs. Rita Ann DeSimone Poole celebrates a career which spanned 32 years.

Now a retired secondary education educator, Mrs. Poole celebrates a career which spanned 32 years. Hired as a language arts teacher at Heaton Middle School in her hometown of Pueblo, in 1967, she taught for eight years before transferring to the district's South High School in 1975. Mrs. Poole taught at the high school level for another 24 years, until 1999.
Involved in her community for many years, Mrs. Poole was notably a sponsor for the Girls' Cabinet, a local organization where she had the opportunity to develop great relationships with the young women she worked with and provide great services for those in need. She is a dedicated Roman Catholic. In her avocational pursuits, Mrs. Poole enjoys such diversions as photography, music, and woodworking.
Born in Pueblo, Mrs. Poole attended Catholic school, where she was fortunate to have several outstanding teachers and mentors. Inspired to become an English teacher by one of her former teachers, she also enjoyed journalism. Attending college locally, Mrs. Poole earned a Bachelor of Arts at Southern Colorado State College (now University of Southern Colorado) in 1967 and began teaching that same year. Returning to college some years later, she received a Master of Arts in teaching southwest studies in 1989 from Colorado College.
