Boasting nearly 30 years of expertise in plastic surgery, Dr. Placik is a former vice chief and chief of the plastic surgery section at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights. He also held appointments at Holy Family Hospital in Des Plaines, and MD Aesthetics Skin Care Center in Arlington Heights. Dr. Placik has maintained activity with the Evanston Hospital Corporation (Northshore University Health Systems), Shrines Hospital for Crippled Children, Saint Elizabeth Hospital, Northwest Community Hospital and Methodist Hospital for nearly 30 years in several capacities. Additionally, he has remained a faculty member at Northwestern University since 1997 as an assistant professor of clinical surgery.
Well-known in his community for his leadership and service to the medical field, Dr. Placik is a former treasurer of plastic surgery education research at Northwestern University. He is also a former member of the plastic surgery subcommittee of the Illinois State Medical Insurance Exchange. Among other affiliations, Dr. Placik is a former member of the resident task force for the Council for Medical Specialty Societies.
An alumnus of Northwestern University, Dr. Placik acquired a Bachelor of Science in medicine in 1985 and medical degree with distinction in 1987. Additional educational pursuits to his credit include residencies in general and plastic and reconstructive surgery at Northwestern University, a fellowship in the aesthetic reconstruction of complex nasal and facial deformities at Saint Joseph Hospital in Chicago and a second fellowship in microvascular and hand surgery at Davies Medical Center, which is an affiliate of the University of California, in San Francisco. Moreover, Dr. Placik is board certified through the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the National Board of Medical Examiners.
Aligned with several industry-related organizations throughout his career, Dr. Placik is a member of the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the Lipoplasty Society and, among others, the American Medical Association where he was notably the recipient of several Physician's Recognition Awards.
