Mr. Vander Weide, of counsel at Lockridge Grindal Nauen, PLLP, since 2011, is an esteemed attorney of more than 50 years. Representing clients at the firm's Minneapolis office in the areas of securities and business litigation, including general corporate, mergers, acquisitions and sales of businesses, class and derivative actions and partnerships, he is also experienced in class action litigation. He also worked for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission as an enforcement staff attorney and branch chief, for which he was involved in broker-dealer regulation, investment company and investment adviser regulation and litigation relating to violations of the Securities Act of 1933, the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 and the Investment Company and Advisors Acts of 1940.

During his career, Mr. Vander Weide has lectured at continuing education seminars on behalf of the Continuing Legal Education Corporation multiple times between 1981 and 1998. He has also served as a writer, analyst and columnist for a neighborhood newspaper in Minneapolis. Mr. Vander Weide has also written several opinion pieces that appeared in the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Mr. Vander Weide served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1969 and was honorably discharged at the rank of a captain. Mr. Vander Weide also served on the board of directors of the Cedar Isles Dean Neighborhood Association.

After completing an Associate of Arts at Grand Rapids Junior College in 1960, Mr. Vander Weide began studying at the University of Michigan, receiving a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws in 1962 and 1965, respectively. A celebrated Marquis listee, he has been included in the 55th and 60th editions of Who's Who in America, the ninth and 11th editions of Who's Who in American Law and the 18th edition of Who's Who in the World. Outside of his career responsibilities, Mr. Vander Weide enjoys such avocations as sailing, reading, and spending time with his family.

"I also take this opportunity to celebrate those who contributed to whatever success I have achieved and to recognize the members of my family whom I cherish. My dear wife, Gretchen, was well on her way to a promising career in medical research when she gave that up following the birth of our second daughter to stay at home to raise our children, Jennifer, Stephanie, and Vanessa. To her decision, I owe so much, and without her love, support, and encouragement I would not have succeeded. I also owe a large debt of gratitude to my elementary and high school teachers of the Lee School District in Wyoming, Michigan, who drilled us in the basics, encouraged us to succeed, opened vistas to be explored, and explained what seemed imponderable; to my college and law school professors at Grand Rapids Junior College and the University of Michigan; and to my parents who, by word and deed, taught me the values that have served me well. Finally, I honor Alex Brown, the Administrator of the Washington Regional Office of the Securities and Exchange Commission, who in 1970 gave me a job that started me on a long career."
