John Joseph Buckley Jr. has held various administrative roles, including as vice president and president of several hospital and medical centers across Phoenix, Texas, Cincinnati, Illinois and Kansas.

Combing his love of business with medicine, Mr. Buckley began his career as an assistant administrator at Maricopa County General Hospital in Phoenix in 1969. Over the next 40 years, he has become an expert in the health care systems and how they operate. He has held various administrative roles, including as vice president and president of several hospital and medical centers across Phoenix, Texas, Cincinnati, Illinois and Kansas. At the age of 34 he became a first-time chief executive officer for St. Anthony's Hospital in Amarillo, Texas, in 1982. Mr. Buckley was also the president and chief executive officer of St. Joseph Health Systems in Bryan, Texas, between 2005 and 2009. Today, he works part-time as the president of his own company, Jack Buckley & Associates in College Station, Texas, since 2001 and as a professor of the practice/executive-in-residence at Texas A&M University in the school of public health for the Master of Health Administration program since 2009.

In addition to his responsibilities at Texas A&M, Mr. Buckley teaches four courses: Professional Development Seminar, Practicum Course for Residential MHA students, Health Systems Leadership for EMHA students, and Business of Health in collaboration with the Mays Business School at Texas A&M University. Additionally, he has served on the advisory board of the dean of the school of public health since 2004, after serving as chair from 2004 to 2010.

Some of Mr. Buckley's community initiatives over the years have included serving with the Amarillo Alliance of Community Service Executives, the Amarillo Area Academy Health Center Corporation and the Amarillo Area Hospital Home Care. He was also active on the panhandle chapter of the Texas Society to Prevent Blindness and the Amarillo Junior League and was a member of the board of directors of the Greater Phoenix Affordable Health Care Foundation.
Mr. Buckley received a bachelor's degree at Kenyon College in 1966. He soon after acquired a Master of Business Administration at The George Washington University in 1969.

A fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, Mr. Buckley is also a past president of The Prenatal Clinic. Among other organizations, he was a member of the Arizona Kidney Foundation, the Illinois Hospital Association and the Texas Association of Voluntary Hospitals, where he has served in numerous roles and on multiple different committees.

Among his achievements, Mr. Buckley has been the recipient of several awards from the American College of Healthcare Executives, including two Regent's Awards and Service, Distinguished Service and an Exemplary Service Awards. He has also been honored with several recognitions from the Catholic Church for work on behalf of the Dioceses of Phoenix, Belleville, IL, and Austin, TX. A celebrated Marquis listee, Mr. Buckley has been featured in over 60 editions of Who's Who, including Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare and Who's Who in the World.
