Dr. Sarkar is a family medicine physician who has been in private practice in Port Saint Lucie, Florida, since 1992. Prior to establishing his business, he spent a year with the Infectious Disease Center in Fort Pierce, Florida, and two years with the Okeechobee Community Health Center in Okeechobee, Florida. He has also been affiliated with the St. Lucie Medical Center. Before earning his medical degree, Dr. Sarkar worked as a research associate for Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, now known as A.T. Still University, and Tulane Medical Center in the department of biochemistry in New Orleans.
Paying it forward to the next generation of physicians, Dr. Sarkar held a teaching appointment at Florida State University College of Medicine's Fort Pierce regional campus. He also taught at the College of Osteopathic Medicine of Nova Southeastern University in North Miami Beach, Florida from 1989 to 1995.

Passionate about his community, Dr. Sarkar has sponsored several little league organizations in Port Saint Lucie over the years. He has also been instrumental in the success of the Jensen Beach High School band program.
Born in Calcutta, India, Dr. Sarkar attended the University of Calcutta where he acquired a Bachelor of Science in 1969, a Master of Science in 1971 and a Doctor of Philosophy in Biochemistry in 1978. He later earned a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine at the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1987. Additional educational pursuits include an internship at Botsford General Hospital in Farmington Hills, Michigan, and a residency in family practice at Oakland General Hospital in Madison Heights, Michigan.
Dr. Sarkar has been aligned with numerous organizations, including the American Medical Association, the American Osteopathic Association, the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association. Named to America's Top Family Doctors for 2007, he is also a celebrated Marquis listee who has been included in Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in South and Southwest and Who's Who in the World.
