Joshua A. Tobin, MD, Celebrated for Dedication to the Field of Medicine

Dr. Joshua A. Tobin is board certified in adult neurology, headache medicine, and geriatric neurology, and is a certified independent medical examiner.

    PHOENIX, AZ, February 14, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Joshua A. Tobin, MD, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Dr. Tobin practices in Phoenix, Arizona as a general neurologist and as a headache medicine specialist. He is board certified in adult neurology, headache medicine, and geriatric neurology, and is a certified independent medical examiner. He has authored multiple invited articles on nerve blocks for headaches for the lay public. His review article "Occipital Nerve Blocks: When and What to Inject," has been cited more than 100 times. Dr. Tobin has also published "Occipital Nerve Blocks: Effect of Symptomatic Medication Overuse and Headache Type on Failure Rate," "Treatment of Migraine with Occipital Nerve Blocks Using Only Corticosteroids," "Cluster-like Headaches Associated with Internal Carotid Artery Dissection Responsive to Verapamil," and "Pseudotumor-Like Headaches with Normal Intracranial Pressure." He is a fellow of the American Headache Society and is also affiliated with the National Headache Foundation and the American Academy of Neurology.

Since 2014, Dr. Tobin has worked as the principal investigator for nine human clinical research trials evaluating treatments for migraines including galcanezumab, lasmiditan, urbrogepant, as well as combination rizatriptan and rapid dissolving meloxicam. His presentation "Clinical Research from the Principle Investigator's Perspective" was part of the launch of three clinical trials; he was the presenting author of the poster "Galcanezumab Significantly Reduced Health Care Resource Utilization and Acute Medication Use in Patients with Chronic Migraine," and he coauthored "Response to Lasmiditan for Acute Treatment of Migraine Based on Prior Response to Triptan Therapy."

Dr. Tobin earned a Bachelor of Science in biology from Harvey Mudd College, and a Doctor of Medicine from Saint Louis University School of Medicine. He completed his neurology residency at Barrow Neurological Institute. Early in his career, Dr. Tobin gained valuable expertise as a staff neurologist, and later as the officer-in-charge of the neurology and dermatology clinic at Carl R. Darnell Medical Center, while also serving as assistant professor at Texas A&M University College of Medicine. In Iraq, he was the battalion surgeon for 2-12 CAV, a tank battalion. He later served as a reviewer with the Journal of Head and Face Pain. He has served on multiple advisory boards and speakers' bureaus.

Looking towards the future, Dr. Tobin aims to continue to provide high quality neurological care, continue to educate, continue to conduct clinical trials, and continue to serve as an independent medical examiner and consultant for the legal community.
