Backed by more than 50 years of professional experience, Ms. Costin excels as the owner of Grandma's Handyman Service, a federally registered trademarked company founded on October 18, 2004. While raising her three children, she found herself finishing "handyman" projects around her home. After nearly three decades in her home, the sun had damaged the double-entry front doors on her house that she set out to repair. She then hired Michael, a handyman, to build a deck and she loved it. She wanted to help him and asked him he wanted to do and he stated that he wanted to build a business. Ms. Costin then co-founded together with Michael, Grandma's Handyman Service, Inc. He has since left the company for personal reasons.
Prior to establishing Grandma's Handyman Service, Ms. Costin gained valuable expertise in several fields, flourishing in insurance for 15 years, advertising and marketing for 14 years, accounting for 16 years and many years in the construction industry as well. During the 1970s, she worked for her brother, the owner of a Gates Forming System Foundation Company, as one of Colorado's first bona fide female construction workers. In order to remain aware of changes in the field, Ms. Costin is affiliated with the Aurora Chamber of Commerce and the Home Repair Association.
In 1959, Ms. Costin received an Associate of Science in business administration and accounting from Bryant & Stratton College. Due to her outstanding work over the years, she has been honored as Aurora Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year (2012), Angie's List Super Service Awards (2007-2019), Aurora Business Women Outstanding Small Business Leader Award (2010-2011), Aurora Sentinel Readers' Choice for Grade A Customer Service (2012), Aurora Sentinel Readers' Choice & Critics' Awards for Best Handyman (2009, 2010), Aurora Small Business Excellence Award (2016-2017), Best of Aurora Award, Handyman Service Contractors, Aurora Award Program (2015-2019).
