NEW YORK, NY, February 26, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jeff Whiting has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

An expert performer, director, and entrepreneur, Mr. Whiting has accrued more than 25 years of inimitable experience in his disciplines. While coming of age, he developed a love for Broadway and stage performance, and understood that eventually he would aspire to live in Manhattan. Mr. Whiting attended Brigham Young University, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in music, dance and theater in 1996.

Mr. Whiting began his career as an actor portraying Quasimodo in the first staged production of Disney's "Hunchback of Notre Dame" and originated additional starring roles for the inaugural productions on Disney Cruise Line. By 2006, he had found success as an assistant director for the national touring productions of "Hairspray" and "The Producers," which led him to a close association with Susan Stroman. Between 2006 and 2014, Mr. Whiting would become the associate director of the Broadway productions of "The Scottsboro Boys," "Young Frankenstein," "Hair," "Big Fish," and "Bullets Over Broadway," and directed James Taylor at Carnegie Hall.

In 2012, Mr. Whiting created and launched Stage Write Software, a patented digital technology which was dubbed "the new standard for documenting staging and choreography" by the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society. He was invited to give a Ted Talk in 2016 on his philosophy of "Open Jar Thinking" and in 2019, Mr. Whiting built the largest rehearsal facility in Manhattan, the Open Jar Studios, creating over 50,000 square feet of rehearsal space for the continued development of Broadway musicals and theatre training. It also houses the theatre training institute he founded in 2003, The Open Jar Institute. He is an executive board member of the Educational Theatre Association.
