After completing his enlistment in the U.S. Air Force between 1961 and 1965 and serving two tours in Viet Nam, Mr. Babbel returned to the United States and decided that he wanted to utilize his training to help whomever he could. Inspired by his father, an inventor, he was employed by G J Yamas Building Automation in 1976 and was promoted to service manager in 1980 when he started purchasing stock in the company and eventually was considered a co-owner of the company. He stopped being active in the automation field in 2007. Additionally, Mr. Babbel obtained a teaching certificate in 1984 and has provided his extensive knowledge to others as a college professor in San Jose, CA. for 6 years.
During his spare time, he proudly contributes to veterans, installing over 600 flags and flagpoles free of any charge to the recipient. In recognition of his outstanding efforts, he was presented with the Civic Achievement Award from the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Montrose County Civic Achievement Award.
