Dr. Bi Awosika has been Inducted into the Prestigious Marquis Who's Who Biographical Registry

Dr. Awosika channels years of industry experience into her role with the University of Cincinnati Medical Center



Dr. Bi Awosika is especially proud of having interviewed with the national medical news organization, "MedPage Today" for an online video segment showcasing physicians under 40.

    CINCINNATI, OH, February 26, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Bi Awosika has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Backed by many years of practiced expertise in Medicine and Education, Dr. Awosika serves as an Associate Program Director of the Internal Medicine Residency Program in the Department of Medicine at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Additionally, she excels as an Attending Physician, an Academic Hospitalist and as an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at the UC College of Medicine. Due to her outstanding expertise, Dr. Awosika has also maintained her positions as Chair of the Resident Clinical Competency Committee, Conference Chair of the Annual General Internal Medicine Updates Conference in the region, and has been involved as a faculty judge for the annual resident and student clinical research poster presentations in the Internal Medicine Residency Program at the UC College of Medicine as well.

Previously, Dr. Awosika worked at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital as the Medical Director of the 2 North Intermediate Care Unit from 2015 to 2016, as well as an Academic Hospitalist, an Assistant Professor and an Attending Physician between 2012 and 2016. During the early years of her career, she gained valuable expertise as one of the Chief Medical Residents and a Clinical Instructor for the Boston University Medical Center, and a Research Assistant at The DNA Patent Database Project with The Kennedy Institute of Ethics. Over the years, Dr. Awosika has held the post of a candidate interviewer for resident positions for the Internal Medicine Residency Program cycle at the MedStar Georgetown University Hospital Department of Medicine.

Board certified through the American Board of Internal Medicine, Dr. Awosika earned a Bachelor of Arts in Human Biology from Stanford University in 2002 and a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Illinois Chicago College of Medicine in 2008. She also completed an internship and residency through the Boston University Medical Center. Although her career has been filled with highlights, Dr. Awosika is especially proud of having interviewed with the national medical news organization, "MedPage Today" for an online video segment showcasing physicians under 40.

With a plethora of knowledge at her disposal, Dr. Awosika has been active as a lecturer at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, West Roxbury VA Hospital and South Boston Community Health Center on such topics as "Inpatient Management of Hypertensive Crises," "Are We Doing Our Part?" and "Patient Safety: Management of Codes." She retains her professional alignment with the Academy of Medicine of Cincinnati, the Association of Program Directors in Internal Medicine, the Society of Hospital Medicine and the American College of Physicians. During her spare time, she also contributes to the Montgomery Community Church's Outreach and Children's Ministry, a faculty advisor of the Student Run Free Clinic and the Alumni Class Reunion Committee at Stanford University. In previous years, Dr. Awosika dedicated fundraising efforts in the past with the Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation and community outreach through various health fair screenings.

In recognition of her extensive body of work, Dr. Awosika was presented with the Abbas Hyderi Award for Leadership and Advocacy from the Chicago Medical School Council, a Student Leadership Award from the University of Illinois College of Medicine and a Department of Medicine Teaching Award from MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. More recently, she was honored with the 2019 Trinity High School Young Alumna Award and the Richard W. Vilter Award from the University of Cincinnati Department of Medicine, as well as the inclusion in the Cincinnati Business Courier's Forty Under 40, which honors 40 young professionals in the area who are building successful careers while helping others. Looking towards the future, Dr. Awosika intends to continue her work with residency training.
