Driven by an interest in helping people secure their financial aspirations, Ms. Hung pursued a career as an investment executive. After working as a managing director at Dean Witter Reynolds Incorporated from 1986 until 1997, she found success with Morgan Stanley in a similar role focused on real estate for more than 10 years. She later excelled as a management committee advisor for Bridgewater Associates from 2008 to 2010, at which point she accepted a post with New York Life Investment Management as the Head of Alternative and Institutional Investments. Ms. Hung then flourished as the co-president of the aforementioned company before transitioning to her current role of Chief Executive Officer in 2015.
Prior to embarking upon her professional path, Ms. Hung earned a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Northwestern University in 1984. Subsequently, she graduated with a Master of Business Administration in management from Harvard Business School in 1986. In her role as C.E.O., she is an active participant in leading industry groups, including the National Association of Corporate Directors, the Investment Company Institute, and the U.S. Institute for Asset Management CEOs. During her free time, Ms. Hung contributes to the less fortunate through NEXT for Autism, C200, The Women's Forum of New York, the Northwestern University McCormick Advisory Council, and the New England Center for Children.
Due to her outstanding achievements, Ms. Hung was honored among American Banker's 25 Most Powerful Women in Finance in 2017, 2018, and 2019. Additionally, she was recognized with the North American Industry Leadership Award from 100 Women in Finance in 2018, the Person of the Year Award from Markets Media in 2018, the Distinguished Alumni Award from the North Allegheny Foundation in 2019, the Inspirational Leader Award from Ascend Inspiring Across Generations in 2019, a Distinguished Alumni Medal from Northwestern University in 2019, and the 'Honoree of the Year' Award from the Chinese-American Planning Council in 2020.
Looking toward the future, Ms. Hung intends to further expand New York Life Investment Management while honing her skills in the field.
