Dr. Pasik-Duncan is a professor of mathematics at the University of Kansas (KU) in Lawrence. A faculty member since 1984, she notably served as an investigator on the campus' Information and Telecommunication Technology Center, which focuses its efforts on advancing knowledge and creating innovative technologies in telecommunications, information systems, bioinformatics and radar. She is also a courtesy professor in the departments of aerospace engineering and electrical engineering and computer sciences. Dr. Pasik-Duncan formerly taught as an assistant professor at the Warsaw School of Economics between 1970 and 1984 and was a lecturer at Warsaw Technical University between 1973 and 1975. She is Chancellor's Club Teaching Professor at KU.

Outside of her full-time commitments in academia, Dr. Pasik-Duncan is a seasoned scientist who has conducted extensive research in stochastic adaptive control of and its applications to science and engineering. She is a strong advocate of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and women in STEM. As a result of her studies, she has contributed numerous scientific papers to scholarly journals. Dr. Pasik-Duncan has also served as the associate editor and associate editor-at-large for the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Transactions on Automatic Control.

Dr. Pasik-Duncan is a member of several professional organizations, including the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM), the International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC), the American Mathematics Society (AMS), the Mathematical Association of America (MAA), the Polish Mathematics Society and the Association for Women in Mathematics (AWM). She has served in numerous capacities in the IEEE, including as a vice president of the IEEE Control Systems Society (CSS) and as a member of several committees and was the recipient of a 2000 CSS Distinguished Member Award. Dr. Pasik-Duncan is currently involved with IEEE CSS and currently serves as deputy chair of the CSS technical committee on control education, serves on the board of governors for the CSS and the Society on Social Implications of Technology (SSIT) and is a voting member as its Past Global Chair of the IEEE women in engineering committee. She is a Life Fellow of the IEEE and a recipient of the IEEE Third Millennium Medal for "outstanding achievements and contributions."

Dr. Pasik Duncan has been equally active with the International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC) as a fellow and past chair of the technical committee on control education and the Harold Chestnut control engineering textbook prize selection committee for the IFAC. She is an IFAC technical board member as the education liaison to all IFAC technical committees. An alumnus of the University of Warsaw in her home country of Poland, Dr. Pasik-Duncan obtained a Master of Science from the University of Warsaw in 1970, and later she attained two doctorates: Ph.D. and D.Sc. (habilitation doctorate degree) in 1978 and 1986, respectively from the Warsaw School of Economics.

Awarded multiple recognitions, Dr. Pasik-Duncan notably received an Excellence Award in Research and Teaching through the Polish Ministry of Higher Education and Science in 1975 and IEEE Education Activities Board Meritorious Achievement in Continuing Education Award in 2016. Other accolades to her credit include a 2012 Outstanding Education Service Award from the Intercultural and Interfaith Dialog Student Association, 2003 H.O.P.E. Award–Honor to Outstanding Progressive Educator, 2004 Louise Hay Award from the Association for Women in Mathematics, 1996 Kemper fellowship, 2019 Wells Award and 2002 Frank B. Morrison Teaching Award from KU. Additionally, she has been inducted into the KU Women's Hall of Fame, to the IEEE Eta Kappa Nu and to Phi Beta Delta for her contributions. Dr. Pasik-Duncan received a fellowship from IREX in 1982 and the National Science Foundation Career Advancement Award in 1991, an ongoing research grant from the National Science Foundation since 1987 and a Polish Central Planning Committee grant between 1973 and 1980. A celebrated Marquis listee, she has been featured in several editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who of American Women.
