Throughout his career, he has distinguished himself as the president of 17 life insurance companies, including First Continental Life Insurance Company Bradford National Life Insurance Company, and American Founders Life Insurance Company where he was a principal shareholder. Mr. Phillips gained valuable expertise in the field as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of America Income Life Insurance Company of Waco, TX.
Though his career has been suffused with highlights, a memorable period in his career was with American Income Life Insurance Company. During this period, he had the privilege to work for Bernard Rapoport through whom he learned much about the life insurance business.
Prior to embarking upon his professional journey, Mr. Phillips earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics and economics from The University of Texas in 1964. Early in his insurance career he obtained the designation of Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI) and Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU). He also earned a Certificate in Data Processing. Though he once attempted retirement, Mr. Phillips found himself drawn back to his vocation. He joined Puritan Financial Companies (PFC) in Dallas as president of a small life insurance company. During his tenure with PFC he orchestrated the acquisition of another life insurance company. After divesting PFC of its two life insurance companies, Mr. Phillips formed a consulting company with Phil Kruse that was retained by Kilpatrick Life Insurance Company (KLIC) to review their operations. Following presentation of their findings to the Board of Directors of KLIC, Mr. Phillips and Mr. Kruse were invited to join the Board of Directors, and Mr. Phillips was named president of the company.
Mr. Phillips is the proud father of two very successful daughters, through who he has five grandchildren.
