Previously, Dr. Tiedge gained expertise as a research assistant professor and a postdoctoral fellow at the Fishberg Research Center for Neurobiology at Mount Sinai School of Medicine as well as a postdoctoral fellow with the Center for Neurobiology and Behavior at the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University in New York.
Over the course of his career, Dr. Tiedge has conveyed his considerable scientific expertise to others through lectures on molecular-cellular mechanisms in basic and clinical neuroscience. He has served as a visiting professor at Sapienza University of Rome and retains his professional alignment with the Harvey Society in New York and the Robert F. Furchgott Society and the Robert F. Furchgott Center for Neural and Behavioral Sciences at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University.
Dr. Tiedge obtained a Doctor of Philosophy from Hannover University Medical School. An expert in his field, he has worked with numerous scientific journals as a reviewer, including the Journal of Neuroscience, the Journal of Cell Biology, Science, Nature, Cell, Neuron, and the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, to name a few. Additionally, Dr. Tiedge has provided his expertise as a reviewer to several research organizations, including NIH, NSF and DOD in the US, as well as DFG (a funding organization in Germany), the Austrian Science Foundation, Brain Canada, the Israel Science Foundation, Human Frontier Science Program Organization, Wellcome Trust and Medical Research Scotland, among others.
For his outstanding work in the field, which is published in numerous articles in noted scientific journals, Dr. Tiedge has received millions of dollars in grants to pursue research on the role of regulatory BC RNAs in neuronal plasticity, small neuronal RNAs, translational control in neurons and much more. In recognition of his work, he obtained Research Awards from NIH, NSF, DOD, the Human Frontier Science Program Organization, the Susan Komen Foundation, the FRAXA Research Foundation, the American Foundation for Aging Research, the Rheumatology Research Foundation, the Aaron Diamond Foundation, a Conference Award from the National Academy of Sciences and the SUNY Chancellor's Research Award. He accepted a Technology Accelerator Fund Award for the "Development of the Circulating Tumor Cell Biomarker BC200 for Prognosis of Ductal Carcinoma in Situ" from the Research Foundation for the State University of New York. Professional publications such as Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the East and Who's Who in American Education have also recognized him for his professional accomplishments.
