Having accrued numerous years of experience in the field of catering, Ms. Hastings has garnered a laudable reputation as the owner of Marilyn's Catering since 2009. Specializing in cakes for weddings, birthdays or other special events, as well as traditional southern cooking, Marilyn's Catering notably received a 100% Rating from the Delaware State Board of Health. Ms. Hastings attributes all of her current success to her parents, who showed her that hard work eventually pays off.

Prior to managing her successful eastern shore catering business, Ms. Hastings worked for the Smith Family Restaurant from 1986 to 2009. Growing up, her mother, Evelyn Smith, was regarded as one of the best cooks of Sussex County. In order to pursue her talent, and serve their local community, in 1986 Ms. Hasting's parents purchased an old "filling station" on route nine and completely remodeled it into the Smith Family Restaurant, the first restaurant in the area. The entirety of Ms. Hastings family worked there and developed key skills in which they used to later pursue their own endeavors in the food industry.

Looking forward to the future, Ms. Hastings aspires to create her own YouTube channel in which she would upload instructional cooking videos for people who wish to emulate her style of cooking. She also wishes to create a "Smith's Family" cookbook to honor her late mother. What's more, Ms. Hastings plans to continue catering, drawing immense satisfaction from seeing customers enjoy her homemade cooking.
