    CARY, NC, April 01, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Alison Pockat has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Ms. Pockat is renowned as a landscape architect with more than 40 years of expertise in creating responsive, site-honoring designs. Drawn to the outdoors, she was attracted to the field of landscape architecture as a way to fuse her passion for nature with her talents for art and design. Utilizing her wealth of knowledge, Ms. Pockat has maintained a blog, The Home Site, since 2012, and is the author of several articles about site erosion control.

Ms. Pockat initially pursued an education at Middle Tennessee State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in 1980. Subsequently, she completed postgraduate coursework at the University of Massachusetts through 1981. In 1983, Ms. Pockat concluded her academic efforts with a Master of Landscape Architecture from North Carolina State University.

From 1976 to 1980, Ms. Pockat began her career as a library and farm laboratory assistant at Middle Tennessee State University. Accepting a position as a soil conservationist for the United States Department of Agriculture Soil Conservation Service in 1979, she later worked as a regular columnist for the Murfreesboro Press from 1981 to 1983. Ms. Pockat completed an internship at Burkhalter Hickerson Associates from 1984 to 1985, and was active with McNeely Associates, P.A, as a landscape architect from 1985 to 1987.

Serving at Cogswell Hausler Associates from 1987 to 1989, Ms. Pockat consulted independently from 1995 to 2000. From 2005 to 2007, she further flourished as a site planner and a landscape architect for the firm Taylor, Wiseman & Taylor. Since 1989, Ms. Pockat has excelled as the principal at Alison A. Pockat, ASLA, in Cary.

Moreover, Ms. Pockat is registered as a landscape architect in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and Maryland. In addition to her work in landscape design, she was recognized as the winner of a 2018 Pinnacle Book Award for juvenile fiction. Notably, Ms. Pockat's fine art has been honorably included in the permanent collection at Middle Tennessee State University.
