Dr. Partha S. Dutta Celebrated for Dedication to the Field of Engineering

Dr. Partha S. Dutta's prolific scientific research, technological and entrepreneurship contributions have been recognized by many awards including the 40 under forty Entrepreneurship Award.

    TROY, NY, April 06, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Partha S. Dutta has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Backed by a lifelong interest in research and a love for engineering, Dr. Dutta serves as a professor of electrical, computer and systems engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where he maintains his research interests in semiconductor optoelectronics, crystal growth, nanotechnology, full spectrum photovoltaics, full spectrum solid state lighting and solar thermal energy. Over the years, he has engaged in a wide array of TRL-1 through TRL-9 research activities encompassing fundamental research in materials and devices, as well as advanced systems design and engineering. Dr. Dutta also served as the deputy director of the prestigious NSF Funded Smart Lighting Engineering Research Center between 2010 and 2015. Dr. Dutta is also a technologist and entrepreneur with vast experience in laboratory-to-market ventures. He is the co-founder of Auterra Inc.

Dr. Dutta has co-authored more than 145 research papers, five book chapters and delivered over 130 technical talks world-wide in various international forums. Some of his key publications include, "Full spectrum phosphors for white LEDs and Virtual Windows for Light and Health Applications","Bulk Crystal Growth of III-V Ternary Semiconductors by Bridgman and Gradient Freezing Techniques" and "The Physics and Technology of Gallium antimonide : an emerging optoelectronic material." Notably, he has obtained 20 patents in his field. In 1996, Dr. Dutta earned a Ph.D. in Physics from the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore.

During his career spanning 30 years, his prolific scientific research, technological and entrepreneurship contributions have been recognized by many awards including the 40 under forty Entrepreneurship Award, and the Martin Foster Best Ph.D. Thesis Award. Since 2010, he has also been honored as a senior member of IEEE. Looking towards the future, Dr. Dutta intends to continue his scholarly work in form of writing books, developing large scale technological solutions for global societal needs and mentor rising scientists and engineers in the field.
