Since accepting his position with the aforementioned embassy in 2015, he has supervised planning for long-term strategic trade vision between the U.S and Zimbabwe, composed and edited content for key stakeholders, and maintains responsibility for all operations for ZimDrone, Zimbabwe's first full-service agricultural drone operation. Due to his considerable expertise, he also serves on the leadership council of the National Small Business Association, where he lobbies congressional representatives in favor of small business issues such as tax reform and representation. Notably, Mr. Pickering was the first-ever translator admitted as leadership council in the association's 76-year history.
An expert in his field, Mr. Pickering initially obtained a Bachelor of Science in philosophy, Spanish and English from Tulane University in 2001. Two years later, he earned a Master of Science in Spanish language and literature from the University of Texas. For his outstanding work in the field, he was presented with the Best of Business Award in Waltham, Massachusetts in 2019.
