Mr. Roos is known as a Program Manager with more than 35 years of Management experience in the development and use of Submarine and Missile technology. He initially pursued an education at Iona College, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in physics in 1953, the year that he won the Galen Physics medal at Iona. His first employment after graduation was as a Junior Physicist at the Naval Research Laboratory working in the field of very low frequency radio communications for submarines. Enlisting in the United States Navy soon thereafter, after graduating from Officer Candidate School he served as a division officer and then Executive Officer of the USS PHOEBE from 1954 to 1957.

Following his honorable discharge from active duty and return to civilian life, Mr. Roos formally began his career as a Program Manager in the R & D department at the Electric Boat Division of General Dynamics Corp. Mr. Roos recalls his time at Electric Boat as a career highlight. From R & D he moved into Contracts as the initial Manager of Change Control responsible for scoping and adjudicating all contract changes for both design and submarine construction contracts at EB from 1968 to 1972. He then became the Director of Industrial Relations and Management Engineering from 1972 to 1977.

After transitioning to the Fort Worth Division of GD in 1977 he became the Director of Resource Management for two years, being involved with the support of the new F-16 fighter aircraft which was sold to a foreign country. In 1979, he was transferred to the Convair division of GD in San Diego as the Director of Integrated Logistic Support from 1979 to 1986 as the Tomahawk Cruise Missile program was coming on line. When GD sold the Missile business to Hughes Missile Systems Company in 1992, he stayed on for 15 months as the General Manager after which, he retired.

In retirement he has served as the Director of SANDARC a non profit entity promoting Amateur Radio as a community resource from 1992 to 1998. He volunteers at the local Library which has a small used book store attached. He handles all the finances associated with the store and keeps track of the contribution that volunteers make in support of the library.

In 2004, the Navy turned over the USS MIDWAY to the city of San Diego to serve as a museum ship. He was on the initial Board of Directors of the former aircraft carrier for slightly over 8 years. The MIDWAY has become the most successful ship serving as a museum in the entire country.
