Dr. Chryssanthou is a physician and educator who specializes in pathology. Aligned with the Icahn Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City since 1967, he served as a professorial lecturer in1997, having previously been an associate professor until 1980 and a full professor until 1996. He also taught briefly as an instructor of pathology at the Medical School of New York University. Additionally, Dr. Chryssanthou's expertise in the field included appointments as associate director of pathology, chairman of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) and director of the Office of Research at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City between 1976 and 1996.

Throughout his renowned career in academia, Dr. Chryssanthou has taught internationally at various institutions. Most notably, in 1986, he gave the pathology course at the School of Medicine of the Autonomous University of Guadalajara Mexico, which conferred upon him the title of Professor Extraordinairio. He also gave lectures, as visiting professor, at the Cayetano Heredia University in Lima, Peru, during 1978 and at the Claude Bernard Institute of the University of Montreal, Canada, in 1966.

Blending his professional expertise with several community initiatives over the years, Dr. Chryssanthou has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the Phillips School of Nursing at Mount Sinai-Beth Israel.. He also lectured on various medical topics at local community associations throughout the United States and in Europe. Furthermore, he is the former president, vice president and board member of two condominium associations. In 1974, Dr. Chryssanthou was honored with the JFK Library for Minorities Award for Outstanding Community Service.

As a seasoned medical researcher, Dr. Chryssanthou holds several patents, including a microscope attachment that obtains successive intermediate magnifications (zoom) and a process and computerized apparatus for the detection of specific biological factors. He has disseminated his research work by publishing more than 100 articles in scientific journals and books.. Dr. Chryssanthou is also a published author and poet. A former editor of the Greek literary periodical, "Pyrsos." (torch) he contributed poetry and prose to books and journals and wrote an anthology of poems "Cries and Whispers", 2006 and the books: "The Secret Message of the Rooster, And Other Amazing Stories During the Nazi Occupation," 2007, "How to Keep Young", 2016 and "Longer Youth & Better Memory: A Prescription to Achieve Ageless Aging," 2020. The two latter books help readers learn how to prevent, delay and reverse the effects of aging.

Another talent of Dr. Chryssanthou is in the fine arts. He painted 310 oils, displayed in 27 art exhibits (several of them solo). His paintings received laudatory reviews, 3 of them became book covers and a photo of one of them is included in the archives of the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington DC.

Dr. Chryssanthou's medical research has been internationally acclaimed by his peers and was broadly quoted in the scientific and lay press in the USA and in Europe. It was also presented in solo interviews of Dr. Chryssanthou, on prime time, on NBC-TV and Pan American Television and on a Greek radio program.

Born in Thessaloniki, Greece, Dr. Chryssanthou received a medical degree at the Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki, Greece in 1953. He soon after completed a residency in pathology at Beth Israel Medical Center, a teaching hospital in New York, from 1957 to 1961; followed by postgraduate courses at Hahnemann Medical College, now the Drexel University College of Medicine; and at the Medical School of Harvard University. Additionally, in 1978, a Diploma de Honor was bestowed upon Dr. Chryssanthou by the faculty of the Col. Luis A. Schreiber Central Military Hospital of Lima, Peru. He is a member of the Board of Healing Arts of the State of Connecticut, of the Greek Board of Pathology and he is certified as Clinical Laboratory Director in the State of New York.

To support his illustrious career, Dr. Chryssanthou has been aligned with a number of professional organizations. He holds membership with the Society for Experimental Biology and Medicine, the New York Academy of Sciences, the American Assoc for Cancer Research, Sigma Xi and, among a dozen other societies, the Aerospace Medical Association.

Securing several research grants between 1967 and 1988 from the U.S. Public Health Service, National Institute of Health(NIH), the Office of Naval Research (ONR) and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), Dr. Chryssanthou has also been the recipient of numerous awards, accolades and recognition for his scientific and literary endeavors including: a gold medal from the Med. School of the University of Patras, Greece in 1973; First Award for a display of Laser Photocoagulation in a scientific exhibit in 1976; and First Prize for a poem in a world competition by the International Author's Union, UNESCO et al in 2010., Dr. Chryssanthou has been praised as one of the outstanding American physician of European extraction in the 1995 review book of G. Henderson and T. D. Olasiji "Migrants, Immigrants, and Slaves" and as a celebrated Marquis listee was featured in over 10 editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare and Who's Who in the World.
