As a graduate of Rockford University, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in business management and philosophy in 2000. Shortly thereafter, he secured a Master of Business Administration in international business from Loyola University in 2005. During the earlier stages of his career, he briefly maintained activity as a business administration intern at the London Bureau at NBC News in 1999, before assuming employment with Catholic Charities as a case manager until 2000. In 2001, Igor along with his brother Davor, founded Areté Renovators, which at the time was just a small construction business as a hobby for their father who is a master carpenter. Igor continued to excel in his career as a licensed Series 7 wealth manager and contributed to LaSalle Bank and Morgan Stanley as a relationship banker and financial advisor between 2001 and 2008.
Motivated by the state of the economy following the recession of 2008, Mr. Jokanovic began working full-time at Areté Renovators, taking on small handyman and repair jobs to keep the business afloat through the recession. Currently, he serves as the president and founder of both Areté Renovators and Areté The Art of Design, Areté Renovators' premier kitchen and bath showroom and design center. As the president of Areté Renovators and Areté The Art of Design, Mr. Jokanovic has managed and overseen over a thousand remodeling and new construction projects throughout Chicago. Over the past 18 years, the business has grown from a small family owned construction company to a full design build firm with design, project management, and marketing teams.
For his accomplishments in the field, Mr. Jokanovic has been featured in the Chicago Architect Magazine ranking as a "Best Kitchen Remodeler in Chicago" and was named as a Best Service Provider finalist by the Lincoln Park Chamber of Commerce. In addition, he has been recognized by Qualified Remodeler Magazine's Top 500 list which is published annually and ranks the nation's largest remodelers. Areté Renovators was the only Chicago contractor to make this list in 2019.
Additionally, Mr. Jokanovic has found success as the president of the Council Oak Montessori School in Blue Island, Illinois and as the founder of the Areté Investment Fund. The Areté Investment Fund invests in real estate properties that show a great opportunity to earn income through strong rental income and high occupancy levels with less development risk.
Civically, Mr. Jokanovic remains involved with the American Southeast Europe Chamber of Commerce. He attributes his success to the strong connection he maintains with his family. Balancing his personal life with business aspirations has been a foremost motivation for his success both personally and professionally. What's more, he is proud to have lifted himself from the depths of immigration from a war-torn country and reap the benefits of a successful career in subsequent years.
