ORANGE, CA, April 21, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Velma-Ahda J. Carlisle-Sands, Esq. with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Carlisle-Sands celebrates many years experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Leading a successful and diversified career for numerous years, Ms. Carlisle-Sands excels as an attorney on behalf of the state of California and a real estate broker for TNG Real Estate in southern California. Bearing more than 30 years of experience in the field of legal service, she currently practices in workers' compensation defense. Previously, as a solo practitioner attorney, Ms. Sands often provided free legal services to indigent individuals. She also worked as an accountant, a controller, a manager of finance reporting, and as an assistant vice president of a Los Angeles area bank.

Aligned with several community organizations and initiatives, Ms. Carlisle-Sands has proudly participated as a member of United We Stand, a nonprofit organization established not only to foster connections and unity, but to provide a hopeful vision of the future. She is also a frequent participant in career day programs at area high schools. Ms. Carlisle-Sands has been aligned with numerous professional organizations throughout her career, including the American Bar Association, the California Association of Realtors and Prosperity Through Real Estate. She is a former vice president of the Orange County chapter of the International Association of Women and a member, past president and board director of the John M. Langston Bar Association of Los Angeles, as well as a former member of Southern California Chinese Lawyers Association.

An alumnus of California State University-Dominguez Hills, Ms. Carlisle-Sands originally acquired a Bachelor of Science in 1976. She later received a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Southwestern Law School in 1985 and became licensed to practice law by the California State Bar Association. Moreover, Ms. Carlisle-Sands is a certified public accountant and licensed real estate broker.

In honor of her inimitable accomplishments, Ms. Carlisle-Sands was recently named Outstanding Member by the International Association of Women for 2015 and 2016. Other recognitions to her credit include a scholarship from the Black Woman Lawyers Association, Commendation Awards from the City of Los Angeles, the Governor of California and the U.S. Senate in 2001, a Samuel L. Williams Spirit of Law Award for Outstanding Contribution in Field of Law in 2001 and a Special Recognition Award from the John M. Langston Bar Association of Los Angeles in 1997. A celebrated Marquis listee, Ms. Carlisle-Sands has been included in close to 30 editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Law, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who of American Women.

As for the humanitarian side of attorney Carlisle Sands, beginning in 2019, she voluntarily and without any pay took over the physical and financial needs of a person suffering from mental illness as well as blindness. She financially subsidizes this individual to ensure that their needs are met. Such commitment is not surprising, as she is fondly known as her family's "banker," lending money or support to her family members in need. In addition, throughout her career she has visited high schools to encourage children in poverty to excel despite their circumstances, sharing her own story of overcoming those same obstacles. She has also volunteered for the federal government's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program and, from 1996 to 2002, volunteered as a Temporary Judge for the Los Angeles Superior Court of Los Angeles, California, where she was recognized for the high number of hours she volunteered in two of those six years.

For many years she chaired, co-chaired, or was a member of the John M. Langston Bar Association of Los Angeles' Hall of Fame Committee, whose mission is to recognize deserving members of the legal community who would not otherwise be recognized. Since 1997 she has continuously co-hosted the free annual picnic for the John M. Langston Bar Association of Los Angeles. From 2001 to 2003, she also co-chaired the Multicultural Bar Alliance (MCBA), which is a group of more than 25 diverse attorney organizations including, but not limited to, the Italian American Bar Association, the Mexican American Bar Association, and the Korean American Bar Association, that come together to promote equality, diversity, and inclusion. In 1995 and 1996, as a board member of Black Women Lawyers, she provided Thanksgiving meals for needy families as well as blankets and toiletries to battered women shelters.
