Sandra Ann Grisham Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Ms. Sandra Ann Grisham garnered a laudable reputation as a district court judge prior to her retirement.

Having accrued more than 40 years of inimitable expertise within the field of legal services, Ms. Grisham garnered a laudable reputation as a district court judge prior to her retirement. She attended the University of New Mexico, where she completed a Bachelor of Arts in political science in just under three years. Having completed her undergraduate coursework early, Ms. Grisham began to consider law school, and returned to the University of New Mexico, where she earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1973, becoming one of the first 100 female attorneys in the state.

From 1973 until 1977, Ms. Grisham served as a special assistant to the Bernalillo County District Attorney. She entered private practice in Albuquerque between 1973 and 1978, and became a partner of Conway, Durvett, Jordon and Grisham PC in Alamogordo from 1979 to 1984. Ms. Grisham was appointed to the 12th Judicial District of New Mexico in 1985, where she would continue to rule for cases until 1997.

Since 1997, Ms. Grisham has found success as a children's court attorney and juvenile drug court advisor. She served as a deputy district attorney for the juvenile drug court advisory committee from 2002 until 2005, and as a district judge between 2009 and 2010. Ms. Grisham has provided her expertise to numerous projects, including the New Mexico State Task Force on Children's Code Revision, where she co-chaired the Abuse and Neglect Sub-Commission. She is proud to have been the first female judge presiding south of the City of Albuquerque, and is a two-time recipient of the Tomahawk Award for Best Case Tried in District. Ms. Grisham is a member of the New Mexico Bar Association, and the U.S. Supreme Court, and has served on the board of directors of the New Mexico District Judges' Association since 1988.
