Rita Moffett Greenberg, M.Ed. LDT-C Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

    FORT LEE, NJ, April 27, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Rita Moffett Greenberg with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Greenberg celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. Ms. Greenberg is a retired special education teacher with more than 40 years of service to her students and discipline. She initially earned a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood and Elementary Education at Paterson State College in 1967 and subsequently graduated from William Paterson University in 1988, obtaining a Masters of Arts in Special Education. Ms. Greenberg also holds a Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant Certification, a New Jersey Supervisor Certification and a Permanent Public School Teacher Certification in the state of New York in the area of Special Education.

From 1967 to 1972 Ms. Greenberg began her career as an elementary school teacher working for the Cresskill Board of Education in Cresskill, New Jersey. She worked as a JCC nursery school teacher in Englewood, New Jersey from 1977 to 1980 and was later appointed as a master teacher at the Community School in Englewood from 1980 to 1985 where she was also responsible for directing school wide workshops and the implementation of the Orton Gillingham reading method. Ms. Greenberg continued as a teacher of special education and reading intervention for PS 24 and PS 8 located in the Bronx from 1985-1987, New York and as a Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant working on a multidisciplinary team at the Institute for Child Development at the Hackensack University Medical Center in Hackensack, New Jersey from 1987-1990.

In 1990, Ms. Greenberg returned to the Public School system working for the Waldwick Board of Education as the elementary Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant on the Child Study Team as well as a member of the Crisis Intervention Team and the Pupil Assistance Committee until her retirement in June 2011.

Serving on the adjunct faculty at William Paterson University from 1989-1994 in the Department of Special Education and Counseling Ms. Greenberg taught both graduate and undergraduate courses in special education. In addition, she supervised postgraduate externships of students completing their testing requirements to earn their Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant Certification. Ms. Greenberg has been a member of Kappa Delta Pi since 1988; was nominated to Who's Who in American education in 1991 and professionally recognized as an educator in educational diagnosis in 2002. She received the James Jan Tausch Research Award in 1992 (created in 1973 to honor Dr James Jan-Tausch, creator of the learning disabilities teacher consultant discipline in New Jersey and founder of the Association of Learning Consultants).

Ms. Greenberg's professional memberships included the Counsel for Exceptional Children (CEC); the Association of Learning Consultants (ALC), where she previously held a position as membership chairperson; Northwest Bergen Counsel for Special Education; National education Association (NEA), New Jersey Education Association (NJEA), Bergen County Education Association (BCEA) and the Waldwick Education Association (WEA). She continues as an active member of ALC and the New Jersey Retired Teachers Association (NJREA).

Ms. Greenberg has co-authored several journal articles: The Educational Therapist: A Survey of the Testing Practices of Educational Therapists in New Jersey Volume 15, Number 3, Fall 1994 pgs. 6-8; The Learning Consultant Journal: A National Survey of the testing Practices of Educational Diagnosticians Fall 1999 Volume XVII pgs. 9-16 and Determining a Significant Discrepancy in Identifying Children with Learning Disabilities Fall 2000 Volume XIII pgs. 37-45. These findings were also presented at the National Counsel for Exceptional Children (CEC) Conferences in Nashville, Tennessee and Charlotte, North Carolina.

In addition to her educational achievements, Ms. Greenberg owned and managed a specialized baking business (Ms. Rita's Ruggles); organized several cousins reunions to keep family connections close; traveled extensively throughout the world with her husband of 48 years and has been elected to the Board of directors at her Coop, where she has served for more than ten years and currently holds the position of President. One of her greatest pleasures is hearing from and about the accomplishments of her former students.
