Steve Kiser Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Mr. Steve Kiser has been recognized as a fellow for studies in Brazil by Rotary International and a fellow for Native American artists by the Educational Foundation of America.

An accomplished listee, Mr. Kiser celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. With nearly 55 years of experience as a renowned photographer and a sculptor to his credit, Mr. Kiser has excelled as an artist and the director of Steve Kiser Studios and Workshops since 1975, posts in which he mentors young art students from around the world, instructs and develops workshops, curates art exhibitions and on assignment for such notable clients as the David and Lucile Packard Foundation, Stanford University, the Fujitsu Corporation, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the National Bureau of Economic Research and the Polaroid Corporation, to name a few. Featured in myriad solo and group exhibitions during this time, he is additionally active as the vice president of the board of trustees and the director of the curatorial staff for the American Indian Contemporary Arts, for which he was formerly a member from 1986 to 2006 and the treasurer for the board of trustees between 1990 and 1995.

Mr. Kiser further flourished as an instructor of photography for the City College of San Francisco from 1996 until 2007. He was hired specifically to teach the advanced black and white technical and advance visual arts photography curriculum along with business techniques for the studio. While there, he designed a new curriculum to meet the changing demographics including transfer requirements to four-year college/university, technical or private photographic/art school or directly to the job location. He also established new criteria for the associate of science degree programs in fine arts, studio, and digital photography and created new guidelines for advance certificate/professional programs.

Moreover, Mr. Kiser provided his wealth of knowledge to Foothill College as an instructor of photography from 1976 to 2005 and the chairman of the photography between 1983 and 1986, for which he directed and founded multiple new programs, including the photography program at Moffett Field in the NASA Ames Research Center. From 1984 until 1992, he worked as the vice president of Hands Across the Water, for which he was responsible for humanitarian programs, educational opportunities, nutritional programs, economic guidance and sponsor recruitment in Indonesia. Furthermore, Mr. Kiser served as the coordinating director for Center for Creative Arts and Sciences, implementing research and academic programs that encouraged collaborations between artists and scientists.

Prior to these roles, Mr. Kiser thrived as a photographer and the owner of Steve Kiser Productions between 1970 and 1972, a large commercial and advertising photo studio that produced acclaimed works for such clients as Capitol Records, the Ford Motor Company, General Electric, Memorex and Buhler Tank, to name a few. Previously, he was appointed as an executive and an artistic director for Tidewater Young Performers between 1968 and 1969, capacities in which he helps burgeoning artists, performers and art students expand upon their local economic boundaries and find their creative visions. Mr. Kiser began his career as a photojournalist for Pace Publications from 1966 until 1968.

Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Kiser pursued an education at the Brooks Institute of Photography, from which he graduated in 1965. He continued his academic efforts at San José State University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in fine arts in 1976. He concluded his studies with a Master of Arts in fine arts at the aforementioned university in 1978. Following these accomplishments, Mr. Kiser graduated from the Federal Emergency Management Institute and Leadership Palo Alto/Mid-Peninsula.

Beyond his responsibilities within the field, Mr. Kiser has participated in numerous endeavors outside of his professional circles. An event coordinator for the California Winter Special Olympics from 1975 to 1980, he has contributed to a number of non-governmental organizations in the Philippines and Southeast Asia. Recruited by and Leadership Palo Alto as an adviser in 1995, he held the position of an artist in residence at the Yosemite Art Center in 1981 and 1982 as well as at Vermont Studios in 1996. Mr. Kiser also found success with the U.S. Navy, completing service as a data communications supervisor in the Supreme Allied Command from 1968 until 1969.

In addition to his primary vocation, Mr. Kiser remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to his areas of expertise. He had maintained his involvement with the International Sculpture Association, the College Art Association and the American Alliance of Museums. Likewise, Mr. Kiser was also associated with the American Society of Media Photographers, the Society for Photographic Education, the Hale Nauā Society, and UNESCO's International's Council of Museums.

In light of his exceptional undertakings, Mr. Kiser has accrued several accolades throughout his impressive career. He has been recognized as a fellow for studies in Brazil by Rotary International and a fellow for Native American artists by the Educational Foundation of America, which remain the highlight of his career. Notably, Mr. Kiser was selected for inclusion in the sixth edition of Who's Who in American Education, the 26th edition of Who's Who in the West and multiple editions of Who's Who in America.
