DEL RIO, TX, May 01, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Captain William I. Lin, MD, has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. All in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

In 2019, Dr. Lin began working for the U.S. Air Force within the BOMC (Base Operational Medical Clinic) as an active duty OMRS physician at Flight Medicine in Laughlin AFB, Texas, and started in 2018 for Coastal Family Medicine as an Urgent Care Physician in three different locations – Irvine, Costa Mesa, and Fountain Valley, California. He had graduated from the Saint Elizabeth Family Medicine Program at the Saint Elizabeth Medical Center and Saint Luke's Hospital after three years of postdoctoral training, which was accredited by the American Counsil of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and the American Osteopathic Association (AOA). Furthermore, Dr. Lin is notably affiliated with the Mohawk Valley Health System in Utica, New York.

Dr. Lin was commissioned as a Captain in the U.S. Air Force in 2017 as well as serving as an emergency medical technician-B (EMT-B) for American Medical Response and Pacific Ambulance prior to starting medical school. Additionally, he flourished for several years as a project coordinator for the Bioprosthetic Heart Valve Project and the chief computer/web technician for Charming Hotel Corporation in Taipei, Taiwan. In the next few years, Dr. Lin plans to remain active in the military, practicing and expanding his knowledge in his area of expertise.

Dr. Lin contributed his first poster publication as a presenter and contributing editor in 2014 at the Institute for Clinical and Transitional Science at the University of California Irvine. He also co-authored his first scholarly journal article, which has been approved by the institutional review board and is pending publication. The title of Dr. Lin's article is "Randomized clinical trial comparing the use of perioperative epidural analgesia to conventional intravenous narcotics and NSAIDs for patients undergoing laparoscopic colorectal resection." He also wrote articles including "SMASH-CoV" and "Allergy Season vs. COVID-19" for the U.S. Air Force during the COVID-19 pandemic to increase public awareness, which were well received.

Deeply involved in matters that affect his community, Dr. Lin has volunteered his time by doing diabetic screenings and by taking part in fundraising efforts for Susan G. Komen. In 2001, he participated in the Terry Fox Run, an annual charity even that raises money for cancer research. Volunteering with the department of emergency medicine at University of California Irvine between 2004 and 2005, Dr. Lin was also the secretary of the LGBT in Medicine between 2009 and 2012.

After observing that most University of California affiliated universities in the U.S. were ranked higher than National Taiwan University, which is the highest ranked university in Taiwan, Dr. Lin decided to take the SATs and TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) in Taiwan and apply. He was accepted to University of California Irvine and subsequently graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical engineering with a minor in premed in 2005. After realizing that his course of study was more of a hobby than passion in the career field, Dr. Lin returned to academia, obtaining a Doctor of Medicine at the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine in 2012.

Dr. Lin completed a research fellowship as a junior specialist in the department of surgery at the University of California between 2013 and 2016, and a residency at Saint Elizabeth Medical Center between 2016 and 2019. Certified through the American Board of Family Medicine, he holds medical licenses in New York and California, plus pending Texas license, and certifications through the Neonatal Resuscitation Program and the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates. Furthermore, Dr. Lin is proficient in English, Mandarin, Taiwanese, as well as basic Spanish and Japanese.

Aligned with several industry-related organizations, Dr. Lin is a chapter member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the New York State Academy of Family Physicians. He is also a member of the Uniformed Academy of Family Physicians and has been actively engaged with Christian Medical & Dental Associations. Recognized as the Most Comprehensive Doctor by the American Board of Medical Specialties, Dr. Lin was also selected for inclusion in the National Dean's List while pursuing his undergraduate studies between 2004 and 2005.
