Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Shortly after graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy from the State University of New York at Geneseo in 2006, Mr. Muto found his calling when he began an apprenticeship with Positive K9, Inc., in Rochester, NY, where he assisted dog training staff with the in-board training program for all breeds of dogs. He quickly moved on to working independently with dogs under the owner's supervision.

Possessed of a love for canines and a knack for helping others, he knew he would excel on a career path where he was able to serve others by working with dogs.

Mr. Muto is now the owner and training director of K9 Connection Training Day Care & Grooming, in Buffalo, NY, where he specializes in rehabilitating dogs with behavioral problems. Working with various nonprofit animal rescues and shelters, he helps them with the training and rehabilitation of dogs who are at risk for euthanasia due to behavior concerns. He also offers pro bono workshops and clinics for the volunteers of such organizations to equip their teams with the necessary skills to prepare dogs for reintroduction to society and placement in permanent homes.

In 2018, Mr. Muto founded Consider the Dog, a digital media production and distribution company that makes educational videos about canine behavior. He is an instructor and production supervisor. Making instructional videos, the company recruits leading industry professionals to work as instructors. In addition, the company organizes and oversees the on-location filming of various seminars and workshops on dog behavior. Mr. Muto has also written and produced online courses for other organizations.

His other involvements within the organization include redesigning their website, streamlining the membership process, spending time as the founder and chair of the legislative committee, serving as board oversight to the service dog committee, and overseeing various other volunteer committees and task forces, as well as the planning of the annual educational conference.
