AUBURNDALE, MA, May 05, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present David L. Stockton with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Stockton celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Retired since 1998, Mr. Stockton is a former executive director of health services at the University of Massachusetts in Boston. He previously worked on behalf of the Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he served as an assistant to the director and assistant director between 1971 and 1975. Additionally, Mr. Stockton held the positions of research technologist at the Clinical Center of the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland from 1958 to 1968 and x-ray technology instructor at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland from 1957 to 1958.

As an active participant in his professional community, Mr. Stockton has been a member, vice president and president of the New England College Health Association and a member of and program presenter for the American College Health Association and the American Public Health Association. He has also sat on the Boards of the Massachusetts Public Health Association and the Massachusetts Health Council. As a Loaned Executive from UMASS Boston, Mr. Stockton sat on and chaired the VNA and Home Care Services committee of the United Way of Massachusetts Bay. He co-chaired the committee that produced the document from which the Massachusetts' nurse practitioner regulations were drawn.

Mr. Stockton chose to serve his country as an enlistee in the army for six years (1951-1957), at the height of the Korean War, and was transported to Hawaii for battlefield training. He escaped proceeding to Korea when, scoring high on the battery of entry tests administered by the Army, he and a few other enlistees were selected to return to the states for schooling. While waiting at Camp Roberts, CA for school entry orders, he became ill and required abdominal surgery. During his hospital stay there, he was attended by an x-ray technologist who inspired him to pursue a similar career. With that person's and her superiors' assistance, he was able to enter directly upon leaving the hospital an x-ray technology program in Texas. That experience ultimately led to his remarkably successful career in health care. Prior to embarking upon his professional journey, Mr. Stockton pursued his formal education at Howard University from which he attained in 1968 a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. Transferring to the prestigious Yale University and sponsored by the National Institutes of Health, he graduated with a Master of Public Health degree in 1971. For 45 years, Mr. Stockton was married to Jane Darnel-Overly who died in 2010. She brought to the marriage two young boys, David and Daniel Lawrence. He and Jane had one child, Philip Stockton; and Jane, and the boys, were very supportive of him in all of his professional activities. A celebrated Marquis listee, he has been cited in the third edition of Who's Who in American Education and the 23rdedition of Who's Who in the East.
