MECHANICSVILLE, VA, May 07, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- James "Jimmy" Miles Jr. has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

A respected voice in his Virginia community, Mr. Miles has served as a reserve deputy and sergeant for the Hanover County Sheriff's Office since 1989. Supported by more than 20 years of service in the U.S. Army, he also provides security for the Hanover Court House. He is a dedicated member of the law enforcement and is known for being a helpful hand to anyone in the community who seeks guidance or aid. Notably, in 2017, Mr. Miles was awarded for Excellence of Service by the Hanover County Sheriff's Office.

Mr. Miles obtained an Associate's degree in criminal justice from the University of Phoenix and proceeded to attain a Bachelor's degree from the College of Commissioner Science in 1987. In addition to working in law enforcement, from 1978 to 2013 he excelled as an electrician with Dominion Virginia Power. Along with his daily responsibilities, Mr. Miles serves as a volunteer with a local school as a "reading buddy" and with United Way.

Mr. Miles is a member of the Carey Wheaton Lodge Mason, Hatcher Cole Fraternal Order of Police, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion Post 175. He attributes all of his success to his deep and abiding Christian faith, as well as his family, which has been a constant support system since his youth. Mr. Miles also credits his mentors Mr. Thomas Chapman, an accountant for the Ford Motor Company, and Mr. Owens, a scout leader, for their influence and guidance throughout the course of his career.

Looking toward the future, Mr. Miles anticipates possibly retiring from the Sheriff's Office. If that eventuality comes to pass, he hopes to focus on supporting local youth, his congregation and his pastor. Growing up in the inner city of Detroit, Mr. Miles would like to show kids that despite circumstances out of their control that they can achieve anything they aspire to with hard work and dedication.
