Sheldon with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Sheldon celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Accumulating 40 years of expertise in education, Mr. Sheldon's career began to take shape in 1958 as a classroom teacher for the Vacaville Union School District in Vacaville, California. After just eight years in this capacity, he was promoted to principal of the Elmira School in Elmira, California. He later served in the same capacity for the Monte Vista School, the Alamo School and the Sierra Vista School in Vacaville, between 1969 and 1998, when he retired. As a school administrator, Mr. Sheldon had the opportunity to positively influence and impact thousands of students' lives in such a positive way.

A lifelong resident of Fairfield, California, a city in Solano County just northeast of San Francisco, it was Mr. Sheldon's great-great grandfather who originally settled in the county from Ohio in his pursuit of finding gold. Meanwhile, Mr. Sheldon's grandfather worked on the Southern Pacific Railroad until he was appointed postmaster of Fairfield by President Taft in 1911 and his father served as a member of the Armijo School board. The Sheldon name, however, became well-known in Solano County after Mr. Sheldon's great uncle founded Sheldon Oil.

Growing up, Mr. Sheldon attended Fairfield Elementary School, where he was first introduced to the Armijo band and later played in the Armijo High School band as the school's first drum major. After high school, he was accepted to San Jose State University where he studied the oboe, tuba and bass and received a Bachelor of Arts in music in 1958. Years later, he returned to San Jose where he acquired a Master of Art in school administration in 1965.
