Having accrued more than 40 years of experience in the field of communications, Mr. Riedl officially retired in 2006 as the vice president of west coast sales for Metro Network, after 10 exemplary years with the broadcasting outsourcing company. He had previously worked with ABC Television in the station's division, where he enjoyed nearly 30 years in various roles at their WLS-TV and KABC-TV affiliates, including as the general sales manager of the Los Angeles station. Prior to his tenure at ABC, Mr. Riedl gained expertise as a media buyer and planner and later as an assistant account executive for Leo Burnett Advertising in Chicago.
During the length of his illustrious career, Mr. Riedl enjoyed the opportunity to travel and work across the country from Los Angeles to Chicago and New York City. He also had the good fortune to work with and manage various events, including the 1984 Olympics, several Super Bowls, NBA finals, NHL finals and a World Series. Mr. Riedl is an active member of the TV Advertising Bureau. He is also a member of Phi Kappa Alpha, where he served two terms as the president. A celebrated Marquis listee, he has been featured in the 52nd and 53rd editions of Who's Who in America and the first edition of Who's Who in Entertainment.
A community leader for many years, Mr. Riedl has been aligned with his alma mater, Bowling Green State University (BGSU), as a foundation board member, advisory board member and Class of 1965 50th reunion committee member. He notably provided a very generous lead gift to the university in recent years by making a $1 million commitment toward the Changing Lives for the World campaign, which has impacted a variety of areas on campus, including student scholarships, the library, athletics and capital projects for the college of business administration and the school of media and communication. Mr. Riedl also served as the president of his homeowners' association at his Big Bear Lake, California, residency for 14 years. Born in New York, Mr. Riedl later attained a Bachelor of Science in marketing at BSGU in Bowling Green, Ohio, in 1965.
