Since 2018, he has excelled as a supervising palliative care physician for Feather River In-home Palliative Care. Dr. Brandtman was previously aligned with Feather River Hospital, a 101-bed acute care hospital in Paradise, California, where he leveraged his expertise between 1988 and 2018 as an emergency department staff physician, medical director of the emergency department and a palliative care physician champion.
Among Dr. Brandtman's noteworthy appointments, he served as the emergency department medical director at Saint Elizabeth's Hospital in Red Bluff, California, and a staff physician in the emergency department at Chico Community Hospital in Chico, California. He was also an ACLS affiliate faculty staff member of the American Heart Association and an EMT instructor for several years. Most impressively, Dr. Brandtman contributed for over a decade as a volunteer clinical faculty member of the University of California at Davis Medical School, beginning in 1982. He has remained active as a longtime ACLS instructor since 1988.
Proud to have maintained involvement with his community of Paradise for so many years, Dr. Brandtman served as a leader and scoutmaster for his local Boy Scouts of America. He also found success as the president and as a board member of Paradise Piranhas Swim Team. Furthermore, Dr. Brandtman chaired the board of directors on behalf of the Paradise Charter Middle School.
Dr. Brandtman is a graduate of the University of California Irvine, where he received a Bachelor of Science in biology, magna cum laude, in 1973. He subsequently studied at the University of California Los Angeles, completing a Doctor of Medicine in 1977. Additional educational pursuits to his credit include a residency in family practice at Washington Hospital in Pennsylvania between 1977 and 1980. Eminently qualified in his discipline, Dr. Brandtman is a diplomate of the American Board of Family Practice and the American Board of Emergency Medicine.
A member and lecturer on behalf of the Coalition for Compassionate Care of California, Dr. Brandtman is also an elected fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians. He is likewise a member of the American College of Emergency Medicine, the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine and the California POLST Physician Leadership Council. In recognition of his achievements in the medical profession, Dr. Brandtman has been selected as a Top Doctor in Medicine for 2016.
