Having accrued more than 45 years of inimitable experience in the field of psychology and neuroscience, Dr. Zemon has garnered a laudable reputation as a professor at Yeshiva University's Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology since 2006. Joining the faculty in 1992, he currently teaches graduate level courses in neuroscience, physiological psychology, statistics and perception, supervises doctoral dissertation research and conducts extensive studies in the Systems Neuroscience Laboratory on campus. He has been a visiting scientist and currently serves as a consultant at the Nathan Kline Institute for Psychiatric Research and is a member of the scientific advisory and institutional review boards of the Blythedale Children's Hospital in Valhalla, New York. Dr. Zemon previously worked at The Rockefeller University, where he contributed for 25 years on campus, beginning as a postdoctoral associate in biophysics and subsequently becoming an assistant professor and later a member of the adjunct faculty for the remainder of his tenure.

Outside of his full-time commitments, Dr. Zemon was a visiting professor of biomedical engineering at New Jersey Institute of Technology, and served on the adjunct faculty of Hunter College and Brooklyn College of the City University of New York and the New School for Social Research. He was likewise a visiting associate research scientist at Columbia University. Renowned for his work, Dr. Zemon also provided his expertise as a consultant scientist for the New York Association for the Blind and as a consultant for the Neuroscientific Corporation.
Dr. Zemon is currently conducting neurophysiological and behavioral research on humans. Specifically, he and his colleagues and group of students have focused their efforts on electrophysiological and behavioral studies of the human brain and how their response measures correlate with perceptual and cognitive processes in healthy and diseased states. Dr. Zemon and his students, who are comprised of Ph.D. doctoral candidates in a clinical psychology program with emphasis on health psychology, are conducting their research in collaboration with scientists from programs at several local institutions and hospitals.

Well-known for his contributions to glaucoma, Dr. Zemon was able to develop a technique to detect the disease in its early stages. He also played a role in the clinical trials on autism that are ongoing at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York. Furthermore, his research into brain mechanisms and the modeling of cognitive processes has been fruitful in allowing him to make predictions about neurons and the brain that have since been verified. As a result of his years of research, Dr. Zemon has contributed chapters to scientific books, as well as numerous articles in scholarly journals. A reviewer and active consulting editor for several of these professional journals, he also served as an editor and on the editorial advisory board of the International Journal of Neuroscience.

Dr. Zemon pursued a formal education at Clarkson College of Technology (now Clarkson University), where he attained a Bachelor of Science in physics in 1973. While working toward his degree, one of his undergraduate professors introduced him to physiological psychology and neuroscience, which ultimately led to his continued studies. Accepted to Northeastern University, Dr. Zemon earned a Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy in experimental psychology in 1976 and 1979, respectively.

In 2010, Dr. Zemon was elected as a fellow of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology. Aligned with several additional professional organizations, he notably chaired the program committee for visual neurophysiology with the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology between 2004 and 2005 and was a member of the program committee for visual neurophysiology with the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology between 2002 and 2005. Other memberships to Dr. Zemon's credit include the Optical Society of America, the Society for Neuroscience, the International Society for Clinical Electrophysiology of Vision and Sigma Xi.

Dr. Zemon received a New York State Regents Scholarship in 1969. In recognition of his research work, he received a Research Service Award from the U.S. Public Health Service in 1979. He later secured a National Institutes of Health grant in 1986 and the Labe C. Scheinberg Award for Best Neurorehabilitation Platform Presentation in 2007. A celebrated Marquis listee, Dr. Zemon has been featured in the 24th edition of Who's Who in the East.
